I have a number of my mum and dads photo albums which I am presently scanning to the pc. Mum and dad are in a care home now and I want to go through the photos with them whilst I still can.

I'm looking for a fairly easy way of tagging the photos with information such as event, people in the photo, location etc, and I would like some software which can embed this information within the file if possible. Ideally something which can be read by Windows or Android natively would be ideal.

Does anyone know of any inexpensive (or freeware) software which can achieve this please? I have googled but it's all a bit bewildering.

Many thanks in advance.

On Flickr you can upload photos then add a geo-location.

Free with decent amount of storage, could build them into albums for events too.

Lightroom, which costs some money can also do this and add custom tags IIRC

Sounds like you need some form of EXIF/IPTC editor.

There are several available for Windows. Some are free.

Not so sure about Android applications that may be able to make use of all of the information options that can be stored in the files. I guess there will be some around.

ETA.

A quick Google suggsets there are quite a few apps for Android. Search for android iptc editor

Piqued my interest so I downloaded FastPhotoTagger from the Android App Store. Its a free product.

Looks pretty useful and quite comprehensive. Probably best with a fairly large screen due to the typing required but quite usable with my 5.5in screen in landscape orientation. Should be good on a tablet.

There are other apps on there - may be worth checking a few if you have a serious project to work through althogh the above has what I would guess to be most if not all of the features you are likely to need.

Thanks for the replies guys. I checked lightroom, but it appears to be monthly subscription which I m not so keen on.

Will have a search as you suggest Long.

Appreciate the suggestions.
