Picked up my first Monaro a couple of weeks ago, always knew about them but never wanted to own one until recently. I spotted this supercharged black 2004 Monaro on eBay and had to go and check it out. Purchased it and drove home 270 miles with a big grin on my face the whole way.

I can’t upload pictures yet as I’m a new member but I will get some pictures up in the next couple of weeks.

Welcome to the fold!
I think I know the one you've bought, quite a weapon with the supercharger fitted!
Would love to boost mine.

Welcome aboard thumbup I didn’t see your car advertised on eBay, so I’d love to see some pictures and hear about any history you’ve got with the car.
Talk about jumping in at the deep end, a supercharged Monaro is quite a beast to own biglaugh
The only thing that my car lacks is a blower, but the cost is seriously out of my league yikes so you did well to find a car with one already fitted, you’ve certainly saved some cash there that’s for sure.
Anyways if you need any advice on these cars this forum and probably Facebook is the place to
ask.

Thanks bud, I’m sure I’ll have some questions along the way of my ownership. Loving the car so far, feels far more special than the cars I have owned in the past.

I owned the car for a year,it had been lying for 4-5 years unused and with an abs problem
i sorted the issues and put it back on the road
Initially when i went to view i only wanted the engine and box,but car cleaned up real nice so kept it in one bit
bloke i sold it to changed the exhaust for more noise,it had a fairly quiet system on it-all be it a bit old looking
It seems to have changed hands a few times this year-maybe due to the way things are with the country
its[or certainly was] a very clean original example with only a couple of small smart repairs done over the years if you look close enough-has great spec and goes well too

Tech 2 and common sense
car had an abs module issue-so no comms[that was the main issue for folk]-fitted another one of those
then a rear wheel sensor ,was spot on after that
The car had been in and out of a few garages but nobody had replaced the module -you have to check the wiring first and then fit a new[or used with same model/part number] for a 2004 car which had lay idle for a good few years the wiring was absolutely fine -better than much newer uk vauxhall models

its a non canbus car being 2004 so you dont need the candi module for the tech 2 either

That’s great to have a previous owner on the forum, Iv been using the car 3 or 4 times a week for the past month and absolutely love it, it’s a dream car for me. The exhaust is a bit loud. The bodywork does seem very clean and straight. I have had a specialist go over the car and the only things that need replacing currently are the gearbox mount as it has excessive movement and the brake lines are starting to look a little rough. It’s been booked in to have new hard lines and a gearbox mount this week at some point.

The screen on the standard stereo gave up so Iv fitted an apple car play alpine double din stereo this weekend too.

The screen never worked-but info displayed on dash anyway

other parts i fitted[due to length of time standing] were 8 bosch injectors, plugs, leads, fuel filter[expensive for what it is!] and also both lambda sensors replaced with correct bosch units due to one being slow
4 x new tyres[mid range] bosch wipers-nearside rear abs sensor, good used abs module
centre prop bearing was replaced too as it was kaput

I had spigots made up to replace the front discs with range rover items-complete lot inc new pair quality discs were given to the buyer with car[the ap 2 piece were bad for giving feedback when left standing]
also with car were the 4 rear flexi pipes[uprated to match the front two i fitted]

my plan was to drop rear subframe-get it powder coated and do the rear brake lines[they are old and tired but were servicable] and detail under the car,but it was a 3rd/4th car really so decided to sell after a year and i had some fun in it
still got a new pair rear shockies here i was going to fit when refurbing-bnib
A shame the bloke i soldit too made it louder,i thought it was just right-supercharger whine is addictive lol

Thanks for all that detailed info.
How did you get the rear ABS sensor out? I hear they seize because of 2 different metals in contact and where did you get the replacement, I've heard they are rare.

Abs sensor was a pita to remove without breaking the bracket off
i pulled the internal copper windings out and collapsed it inwards on itself-it was a very destructive method for the old sensor, but i have heard of folk breaking the securing ear off before...and iirc that means new rear diff cover

replacement sensor was from rock autos in the states, cant remember exact cost but much cheapness

Which Range Rover discs do I need for when I need to replace them? The supercharger whine is incredible and I still get excited every time I hear it😂
I’m thinking about getting some silencers put inline with the exhaust system just so I can hear that supercharger even more😍😍
