Stupidly I've delayed replacing the battery in the HSV which I knew wouldn't survive any really cold weather.
Now it's totally flat & I can't open the car.
I have the most basic Sigma Cat 1 alarm system on top of the HSV ESS. The key will not open the door & there is not enough power to work the remotes.
Anyone know what to do to open the car or even just the bonnet?

Is the problem the sigma bit or the ess bit?
Why can't you open the locks with the key? Is it because of the deadlock?

Manual says that the doors can be unlocked manually even if they were deadlocked. It says if the battery is flat you have to turn the key "forcefully" clockwise in the driver's door lock. The "snib" button will not pop up but the handle will open the door.

The Sigma alarm shouldn't be a problem as the doors have to be locked & unlocked using the remote HSV/Holden key.
I've tried the key both ways & no joy!
Really p****d off as I knew I needed to change the battery & I haven't started the car for nearly 3 weeks.

It does say "forcefully", underlined, in my manual...? And I assume that "snib" is the inside thing that pops up... so even though that doesn't lift up you've tried the handle?

Weird..

Tried the key very forcefully & lifting the handle, many times.
I'm well & truly dead locked out, with a very flat battery.

Have you tried the boot and then through hatch?

Or you might be able to get something up under the front to release the bonnet like a long handled screw driver and replace the battery?

Can't see a key hole for the boot, I thought my VT had one though.
Can you pop the bonnet without damaging it?

Boot key is one third of the way in from the drivers side at the bottom.

Wish it was Rich, they must have done away with it on the VX.
I can easily reach the bonnet catch with my fingers, but without the bonnet release having been pulled' I can't open it.
Anyone know the trick to opening it?

Might have to involve some tinkering... BUT, if you wanna, give me a yell can come out with my car and we can look at a way to break into it, but with mine "already" broken into to.

Might find a way to give it some charge by getting in underneath it.

That's a very kind offer Jase, many thanks.
You wouldn't be able to get to the battery terminals from below, I really need to get the bonnet open.
It's encouraging that It's so easy to reach your fingers in to the catch though.
What I need to find is a forum for Aus. car thieves. LOL.
I'll make a few calls on Mon. must be a way to open the bonnet with no damage.

I think you have to use quite a lot of force to open the door using the key when it is like this. It has happened to me a few times. Sometimes the actual door tab doesn't even lift but it does unlock it. It is nearly 2 hands worth of force, I was convinced I was going to break the doorlock.

Hi Jase, I searched the above, which is priceless for us VT/VX owners.
Found a thread where a guy was in the same situation as me but in a VT.
The forcing the lock thing doesn't work on my VX. But one suggestion was to keep the door handle raised and keep forcing the key across in the lock, so I'll try that later.
I'm just wondering if the security was beefed up on the VX? As most people suggest the forcing the key.
Typically It's a nice day for a drive as well!

can you not jack it up and get a jump lead on the positive lead of the starter? Even a small wire with a crocadile clip will get enough current into it in 10 mins or so.

Thanks everyone, I'm hoping that the bonnet can be opened.
I've also put a post on justcommodores so hopefully someone will will know.
I'll also phone Mark at LSV who may have experienced such a problem.

If anyone gets a chance today, please could you let me know which way the key should be turned to unlock the door.
Never use the key, so I'm not that sure. Although I've tried forcing it both ways, so I'm not confident on that method, appears to work on VT's though.
Unless I can learn how to open the bonnet, power to the starter motor seems the way to go.
Thanks, Tom.
