I've always loved V8s since early childhood and growing up around V8s and V12s. My dad and his brother were avid car fanatics and between the two of them have owned some incredible motors, a Fezza 250GT(LWB) and '67 AC Cobra to highlite my favourites. I promised myself I would have a nice V8 one day!

Well...got the Monaro VXR at the end of Sept, met up with Brian at Greens in early October to view the essential mods and low and behold I've just got the car back with WORTEC Catback, remap and Rippy. I aint smiled as big since I saw my daughter born.....I delivered her by the way.

Car is fantastic, sound is absolutely incredible, particularly in my home town and cruising at 20mph in 1st and 2nd along a half mile one way high street with high building either side. The service from Greens has been superb, Brian has been at hand every step of the way with advice and updates, service manager on the other end of the phone at any time and of course Paul....delivering the fantastic and essential Wortec goodies. I cant thank all of you enough.

Only snag is I cant get the wife out of the car, she loves it! Have had an interesting two days since I had the car back. Had a DB9 come up alongside me at the lights, driver gestured for me to wind the window down, his words were "I want one....it sounds incredible". Today a guy in a GT2 was behind me all the way from Guildford to Camberley....no way I was letting him past. He caught me at the Watchmoor Park lights and said asked me if it was road legal. He was absolutely gobsmacked and admitted he was genuinely envious of the sound the car was giving off in front of him.

I think WORTEC sells itself, an absolutely fantastic product, one I had researched and experienced before I had taken the delivery of the car. Was pretty simple, thanx to Brian...I knew where my money was going to be spent!!

A massive thanx guys!!

EDIT

Oh I forgot to mention that I popped into the Vaux delers today where I got the Monaro, just to wish everyone a merry Christmas, New Year, 'appy birthday and all that crap, and as I pulled in there the look on their faces was an absolute picture, it was fecking priceless!! Snag is I've promised to take em out one day next week so they can appreciate it properly!

Glad you're enjoying the car. Mine has all the right mods as well, people stop and stare at it as you drive past. I heard "Oh my god it's a Monaro - that is one cool car" today Part of the fun is most of the general public don't know what the car is. Re the performance mods - a standard monaro is only half the beast - they all should be modded

I'm not a GP but enjoy my efforts at Gaenocology.

Agreed that ppl stop and stare and the Ro. Even before the essential mods were done, the car turned heads as it went by, now I revel in the enjoyment of going down a high street with heads already turned.

A very interesing event today....I was leaving the car park at my local town and ahead of me in the high street was a yellow Gallardo and every head in the street gazing at this thing as the bloke was constantly blipping the throttle. I was about 4 or 5 cars behind it. I went by and I could hear the comments such as "the Gallardo doesnt sound anywhere near as nice as that"....and...."its a fecking Vauxhall....sounds incredible", and I blipped the throttle only ONCE! Comments like that and your average bloke gesturing with thumbs up make owning a car like the Monaro an amazing experience. I got alongside the Gallardo a few miles down the road and the guy was obviously staring out of the driver's window on purpose. Now.....at this set of traffic lights, he could have booted it without any problem at all, but he sat there behind me for a good 2 miles before giving a hoot of the horn and a flash of the lights before heading off up a slip road!!

Nothing but good vibes and positive comments since owning this car and nothing but smiles since having the car doctored by Wortec!

I'm soooo tempted to upgrade mine. Does any of this stuff (especially the remap) affect the warranty?

I'm currently in talks with a dealer to buy a Monaro (not a VXR) and like the sound of he upgrades everyone is talking about !! Knowing nothing about them can somebody elaborate a little ?? I take it they can go on any Monaro ?? Has anybody recorded the sound these things make ?? Is it really that good ??!!

Whereabouts in SE are you. We are able to let u listen and drive our demo cars if you wish ? Are you looking at 05 or 04 car ? We are able to tailor Woretc mods to your specific model, budget and requirements. They really do sound as good as people say.

Caspy, its an 04 car (not VXR). I'm in Worthing but parents live in Bromley so not a million miles away from you and pop up there every so often. I take it most of the power increase must come from the re-map ??

Regards,

Simon.

Usually a combination of things, not just remap. If you want me to put some figures together on a new 04 car, just let me know. Would be happy to talk through any mods with you over a coffee.

What would a full exhaust and re-map cost to buy and fit ?? What would be the bhp/torque gain and in what area ?? I know fuel consumption should hardly be on the list of priorites when buying a Monaro but how does it effect it ??

A "Wortec" re map and cat back exhaust system will cost you £1189 inc vat and fitting. The re map alone will give you a increase of 40hp and 42ft/lbs. The max torque moves down the rev range by 500rpm to 4250 rpm.

The addition of the cat back exhaust gives a further 15hp and a much nicer sound.......

A by product of the re map is an increase in MPG of 2-3 mpg on average.

To ask a silly question - is a cat back system purely a system from the catalytic convertors back ?? If so, can you just put the exhaust system on to make the V8 sound better or do you still need to do the re-map ??

A cat back system will certainly help with the sounds, but you will find that the remap optimises it due to the better timing and fueling. If you are keen you can tune it yourself or get a sponsor to do it at the same time as the exhaust. Its not just the sound though, the car will drive and feel like the 5.7L V8 that it is, rather than some pokey V6.

Oh, by the way, are the standard VXR brakes up-to-spec with the essentials pack

I think Wortec has some headers under development' I am curious as well about benifits off a full system, against a cat back, and price for these. The other way to go is to get them to price up some Difilppo headers as these seem to get the vote for quality/fit and performance on the Aussie forums.

We are currently developing the headers for 6.0 VXR, we have a car with them on, and there are 'significant' gains to be had!!!!

The system will fit to Wortec existing cat back system so you can do one stage at a time.

We should have all the testing complete very shortly, and should announce full details, including pricing and power gains before the ACE CAFE meetnext month. We will also have a car there, with headers, for people to view and try!!
