Ventured out this morning in about 4 inches of snow on a single track down hill lane!!!! I like a challenge.

Focusing, to say the least!! Nipped in to the office for an hour, and then did the reverse. Not too bad, just have to never accelerate, tick over etc etc

PS

Will post some pics of the trip later!!!!

I drove back from my girlfriends this morning ( a 28 mile trip )

Well it was different I have to say....

Took it very slowly. Was watching the people behind me laughing as the arse would slide out in 3rd gear exiting roundabouts
Most of the roads were pretty clear but as I got onto the estate where I live it was like an ice-rink..... We have 2 routes into the estate & 3 step hills, I got down them ok but couldn't get up any of them again so I put the beast to bed after 3 attempts of trying to get it up the small slope into the garage block. I ended up taking the T/C off & burning through the snow to the delight of the local kids !!!!

yep tried this morning - one knackered back wheel for the effort and one scary time when it started sliding backwards (hence having to put the car in to the kerb on purpose).

Got stuck 6 times in 150 yards (all on a slight incline.

I now realise I can't get out of estate at all????

will not be trying this one again at all.

Anybody know of any good alloy wheel repairers in Nottingham please let me know.

If you remember a few weeks back when devon and cornwall were submerged in snow. Well we left St Albans at 5am got to exeter at 9am and arrived in a cottage in cornwall at 9 that evening. Car was a Monaro VXR and it was an absolute hoot. Only got stuck once because of a yoof in his Escort Chavmagnet tried to overtake up a hill got stuck and blocked the road , so I had to stop behind him and a restart was impossible. 4 blokes plus missus got it moving again and one lad said 'serves you right for buying an aussie car'.
Torquey motor , long wheelbase and I was sliding cheerfully down hills and wafting up them. At one point it was full lock and wait for the LSD to lock and kick the back round.
All good fun but be careful its a big, heavy car and skill won't overcome physics!

PS
an odd observation is that any rwd Mercedes we saw was in real trouble , beemers etc... just kept going

Yep, I bought snow chains just in case. Didnt need them, though being stuck down a one way country lane at the bottom of the hill in the peak district saw some interesting 45 deg angle driving up the hill with the back wheels scrambling against the bank for traction. Engine speed was 900 RPM, had to pace my entry onto the main road to coincide with the traffic as there would be no stopping or starting to be had otherwise.

Well, its my first post on the site so apologies if I get it wrong but I thought this was a good place to start - picked up my Monaro on Friday and had my first run in the snow on Tuesday evening - pitch black snowing heavily and about half an inch or so on the roads - it sqirmed a bit but we took it nice and steady and made it home just fine.

While I am here can I just say hi to everyone and whilst I have only now got round to joining I have been reading the goings on for sometime - this is a great source of information.......and so as I don't offend anyone with my first post that is generally, not just Monaro/HSV related!!!

I tried it last year in heavy snow and ended up spinning on a roundabout and going down the exit road backwards. Never again. Its only a small single track roundabout and I still wonder how it swapped ends without hitting anything :-)

BO55 VXR and Caspy, thanks for the welcome. In answer to your questions Caspy, I guess you would call it north west Kent (apologies for not being more specific but I am always a little sceptical about putting too much detail on the internet) and its an 04 CV8 in standard trim

Nice photos Caspy - reminds me of February this year - was looking for my photos from back then but its a bit off topic and I can't find them nor do I know how to post them!! Anyway had a Z28 Camaro at the time - it was on the drive going nowhere for about two weeks - we are quite high up and the snow took an age to clear although a mile or so down the road there was nothing!!

Seems like some of us have decided to leave the car at home due the limitations of our underwear....

Anyhow, I dont have a garage (and looking at the pictures, not the only one) but I also have to park under a tree...

Does anyone know if there is a (custom fit) car cover available for a Monaro

Can't say whether anyone does "off the peg" (so to speak) covers for Monaros but I would have thought someone like Covercraft would be able to sort one out. I am lucky enough to have a garage but the bike lives in that!!
