I am currently driving a big BMW but due to some changes in the warranty rules, I amy dump it late next year. By this time our littl'un will be 1 1/2 years old and in a forward facing child seat. Anyone got a nipper and Monaro who can share any advice/experience?

Yes, it's no problem.
Had to buy a diffrent seat to the isofix one in the wifes' car, as didn't fit very well; but saves transferring it all the time.
Big boot (on 04 model) so all the junk can travel in comfort as well!
The only complaint from back seats is that they cann't see out the window that easily (due to high waist line(the car that is)), but thats a problem with all similar cars!?
Also access, whilst acceptable, certainly isn't the quickest.

Yep, no problem at that age with forward facing seat. 2 year old daughter manages fine. But getting a rearward facing seat to fit for the new baby due in Feb is proving difficult.

Come on lads.. lets get with the Aussie spirit...
Monaro's are for making kids not carrying them! (LOL)

I have two an 18 month old and a 4 year old and no problem.

You may however struggle with a rear facing seat - the seat belt in the back does not stretch that far when trying to loop over a child seat (if that makes sense).

Halfords managed to get a seat to fit in the back just but it is front facing.

I have been told that recaro do a child seat that fits the Monaro quite well.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for the replies. I can assist with the rear facing bit. I borrowed a CV8 from Vauxhall and the Graco seat from their travel system with one of the clip in bases fits. The seat can be unclipped and just fits through the gap.

Different car I know, but for older kids (2/3years plus but check with them) the Recaro seat fitted well in the sculpted rear seats of the HSV.
Also, my wife refused to get rid of her classic Saab 900 coupe & managed fine with kid/s in the back. Yes it's more aggro, but you put up with it if you like your car.

Thanks I'll look into it.

Interesting comment about the BMW warranty rules. It's something we've been discussing on the Alpina forum. I had a total nightmare renewing mine this year. What's the problem as you see it?

As I see it:
- The warranty prices are going through the roof
- They are now clearly stating that things like "component failure due to gradual reduction in performance commensurate with age or mileage" will not be covered, plus a few other paragraphs that suggest they are going to work a lot harder dodging claims

Anyway was interested in your comment...

I've been reading on the Alpina Forum and partaking on the BMWCar Mag forum (I go by the ID V12 EGO on both). My issue is that, today, I have worry free motoring and after my next renewal I don't have worry free motoring and will have to pay an increased premium for a poorer policy.

Hi Darren,
ed
I've met so many people with LC's I struggle to keep up, which one did you have?

I'll be interested to see how you get on.

The Recaro child seat cover 9 months to 9 years and fits very well in the HSV and smarts, very well built too & should last 9 years.

All good information regarding the baby seats. This'll help justify my Monaro purchase with Mrs Twin Turbo
