I'm interested, if welcome, the only reason for not saying so earlier is trying to find out what the work commitments should be. Should still be able to make sunday cruise - if going ahead

Jagsy, I'll try and make Friday night for Saturday morning if possible. I'm down in Edinburgh at a meeting on Thursday/Friday so I could go the extra distance for the crack! I'm sure Dave52 and Wellfans will keep me right and possibly form a convoy from the North!

Right the plan is coming together.

Saturday morning initial meet Washington Services South A1 for those who can make an early start in Newcastle.

Drive to Scotch Corner Services to pick up those travelling from the south on Saturday. LEave Scotch Corner at 10ish, travel up the A68 through Tow Low and on to Hexham Horseless Carriages to meet those who can get up early. Leave Hexham say 11.30ish, drive to Kielder to get a sandwich (location TBC).

Drive back to Newcastle for a pint and farewells for those going home.

For those staying the night check in to where ever and have a pizza on the quayside in Newcastle.

Sunday, depending travel down North Yorks Moors and finish in York area to say goodbye to those travelling south....

Detials are being confirmed over the next couple of days.

The weekend cruise is arranged, times are as follows.

Saturday - the Kielder run
Leave Washington Services (Southbound) at 09.00

Leave Scotch Corner Services at 10.00. Travel To Hexham Horeseless Carriages for second meeting point.

Leave Hexham at 12.00. Travel to pub at Kielder for lunch. (Pub may not be nice to look at but sandwiches are supposed to be good). After lunch visit Kielder reservoir visitor centres.

Leave Tower Knowe visitor centre at 15.00. Travel to Wheatsheaf Pub at Callerton near Newcastle Airport. Estimate arrive at Callerton about 16.15 hours. Time for a refreshment, say goodbye to those going home or time to check in and get ready for evening meal.

Italian munchies at 19.00.

Sunday - the North Yorks Moors run
Have a big BREAKFAST

Leave Washington Services (southbound) at 11.00. Travel to Moors Visitor Centre. Arrive approx 12.30.

Leave at 13.00. Drive to Hemlsley. Have a walk around for an hour and have an ice cream

Leave Helmsley at 14.45. Drive to Fish n Chip restaurant called Whetherby Whaler on the York ring road. Fish n Chip tea at 15.30.

From here, its easy access to main roads north and south.

I need some info from you
To help the the pubs and restaurants I need a better idea of how many folks are coming. Can you please give me numbers as soon as.

Will be there for the Sunday.
FAO Jagsy:-

Which Moors Visitors Centre? the one at Danby or the one at the top of Sutton Bank????
If it is the one at the top of Sutton Bank, and please do not think I am interferring in any way - this is ONLY a suggestion, may be meet up at Stokesley Market Place (very easy access from A19) and then use the B1257 between Gt Broughton and Helmsley. Various car mags have voted this one of the best driving roads on UK. I can vouch for this if the traffic is fairly light.
As I said this is only a suggestion as I am more than happy to fit in with what ever is planned

Don't think you are interferring, thank you for the advice. It is the moors centre at Danby. I've tried to do a direct route with scenery and roads, but no do too many miles 'cos fol coming on Saturday will be swamped out with driving. I think I'll do the route you mentioned (again) before I leave though.

Richard

Thanks for clearing that up, the road I guess you are using is the Blakey Ridge Road, which allowing for sheep is perfect for the big Ro!
See you at Danby, I know it's lazy not going up to Washington, but having a young family - it'll allow me to spend the morning with them (only generally get Sundays off) before travelling nearly a whole 2 mins to the meet point - by the way the Moors centre car park is pay and display - the robbers!
