I know this has been the topic at one or two meets lately, but is anyone any further forwards in sourcing a better mirrors for the Monaro? Have had a few narrow misses because of the blind spot and the bloody useless mirrors.

I'm off to Daytona 500 next week , I will be visiting the local Pontiac dealer to check out the GTO passenger side mirror to see if they are wide angle.. If they are, and they pattern match, I will get a stack

Couldn't agree more the blind spot is really bad.

Keep me informed on the GTO versions

I've discovered, to my horror, it's possible to "lose" a lwb hi-top LDV van in the blindspot!

Yes, I know I should know what's around me but the blindspot on the Monaro really is dreadful.
I'd be interested in anything that helps.

As I mentioned before, I'm up for one of these. The blind spot is pretty bad on motoway slip roads.

OK.. Let's get a count then..

If the GTO mirrors are aspherical and will fit, who wants one..

Please note that I will be matching based on an '05 VXR LS2 - I'm not sure they'll be much different for other Monaros but I'm sure caspy can set the record straight (please)

Haven't got a clue on price, you'll just have to take pot luck but IMHO I would like to presume they will be a cheaper over there than they would here (but don't quote me on that)

Well, Stu might be able to set you straight, but when I was ordering the monaro mirror, apparently there is a wide angle one. Not sure though, might want to ask the question.

OK... Phoned Andy at Greens and they DO NOT list wide-angles.. So I will check with Pontiac later this week

So...Post up NOW if you want a Pontiac Passenger Side aspherical (assuming they do them)

Can we get an idea of cost? Really would like one, but if the cost is exorbitant, then I can put up with it.

Well, when I was at Picadors they asked if I wanted the wide angle one or the normal one. They may have actually gotten a little confused, as I know on mine that the left hand is a wide angle one. Would say that cause the yanks drive on the other side, that you would be able to get a drivers side one for over here as it would be their passenger side.

Sorry everyone.. I completely failed in my attempt.

I did go to the Pontiac Dealer but they did not have ANY stock and I would have to pay for a special order abd even then they could not garuantee either a) it would be correct or b) they could get it in time before I flew out... The nearest dealer with stock was 700+ miles away.

Sorry peeps.. I'll try again sometime

Well I finally sourced one of these from http://gm-auto-parts.com. It's a proper GM collision repair part #92147343 (mirror glass only). Fitted it last night and it's the dogs nadgers.

Wow... Now that's good news... I almost had major disasters the other day and need something soon...and so did mose actually.

Just a few "probing" questions: What was the shipping cost, how long did it take, how easy to fit. I assume this part equates to the Pontiac GTO passenger side mirror

Yup - GTO passenger door mirror. The mirror glass is 30.34 USD and it was 20.00 USD to ship. You only need a screwdriver and 5-10 minutes to fit it.

I've got some pics I can post later if u like.

Forgot to say it took a week to get here.

Wait a second. Your RHD driver's/passenger's door mirror will be a different type of mirror to a LHD driver's/passenger's door mirror. One magnifies and the other provides a different reflection altogether. I know as my Camaro Z28 passenger door had been fitted with an adapted driver's door mirror from some Euro car so gave a driver's mirror reflection which was useless.
