hmmm interesting, that would mean my Dads monaro which made 420 flywheel hp using Powerstations drag measurer thing is making 360rwhp - Paul, care to chime in? V8HSV, what power is yours making at the wheels?

I can't answer that as I have no results from LSV on rwbhp just the estimated flywheel figures which were 536 bhp. Last time at Abbey the rwbhp was 450 but then it was not fuelled right at the top end

It is, and always has been insanely quick ( just feels smoother now ), however if I were to put my life on it I’d say from experience 425-435bhp tops ( like Paul says ), I knew it had more than the 390bhp I was told it had, so it was nice to get a positive reading after some fine tuning.

It is not unfeasible to get 100hp per litre from a road going aspirated engine, however you would need some very nice heads, cams, exhaust & management system not to mention all the trimmings ££££!!!!!

Tring to calculate/estimate flywhel figures is a bit of a waste of time really.

There are so many different estimations, which one is correct ?? NONE.

If you want a power figure, and are going to a rolling road. Get a Wheel HP figure. At least it is a measurable number, rather than a guess.

Why is it only the UK bothers with guessing HP numbers in this fashion ?

RwHp is the only true reading when your car is complete and running, however Din is useful for Comparisons.
We once gained 21bhp on the ground ( went from 194rw to 215rw ) by changing the transaxle oil from ep80/90 to a semi 10/40 engine oil, this was for a competition car in a production class where every bit of extra power counted.
(This is not recommended for anyone on here, I’m just making a point. )

For a 400hp Commodore/Monaro 50-60 hp loss from the hub figure is a good approx of flywheel HP.

New car at 900 miles, exhaust and remap done, diff on the way, plus a few other toys.....driver mod needed next.....bit more training maybe. Relatively cheap vs potential on road fun.

Well I have got my car back after some interesting changes (and no it has not been supercharged).

Initial thoughts are blimey it rather shifts a bit. There is some running around required and possible clutch mods now needed....

It has got to go back for some fine tuning and to obtain some indicative numbers which is about 2 weeks away and then I will post the full story...
