I'm off to Italy with the car at the end of April and was wondering what experience people had had with driving in Holland, Germany, Austria, and Italy with regards to speed cameras (ie how widely used).
I have a R/Angel - no use abroad + illegal in some countries, but also a TomTom sat nav. I have subcribed to the UK camera option and found it poor, but still better than nothing! You can also get a years subsription for all the diffrent above countries, any a must? and any a waste of money???
Thanks Iain

The French will have you reverese over your Road Angel & fine you too as witnessed at Le Mans lasy year. I had a ding dong too for just having the power lead on the dash, they wanted to search the car till I got irate. Holland, lots of camera flashes over the years, no paperwork from NL though, no idea about Italy/Austria. I'am going to Monaco end of April & will have to leaver the RA2 at home, only wanted it for correct speed In KPH but not worth loosing it.

I use the RAC Trackstar tracker and paid for the camera update - nothing visible on dash and works a treat - tested on the road to Aberdeen at weekend which has camera's every 500 yards for over 80 miles or at least it seems that way!!! Not sure if they offer European support as well and its expensive if you want a lifetime subscription for both tracker and cameras. Might be worth investigating further though. Obviously wont work with hand held or camera vans though.

seems the Europeans as well as handing out big fines will now be handing out points and using DVLA to make sure they go on your licence - swapping plates might not be such a bad idea - or the other rather novel idea could be to stick to the speed limits

I fully agree, speed limits are there for a reason and if your car can't go any faster....so be!I take it that is the speed limit you refer to?Personally my limit is about 180 at present>
