For the second day on the trot, I have lost count at the number of motorists flashing at me or gesturing at me, akmost as if I am driving about with lights on main beam. Yesterday morning I was driving through aldershot and a bus driver was waving his hand at me and pointing to the front of my car, so I didnt really think a lot of it. A bit further up the road someone does the same thing waving their hands about and pointing at the front of the car. So I'm thinking this is a bit odd in the space of a mile or so. Bit further on a van driver is flashing his lights at me and again pointing at the car. So I stopped at the nearest garage and had a look about the front of the car, lights werent on, nothing untoward. So, a bit confused drive towards home. Another two drivers flashed their lights, trying to get my attention. OK so this is beginning to pi$$ me off a bit now.

So today, I drove about 10 miles into another town and again, all I had was the flashing lights and drivers signalling at me. A driver in front of me flasshed his hazards several times, so I slowed down behind him while he moved over into the other lane and as I passed he is trying to tell me something. I move past him and he's flashing his lights at me. Arrrghhhhhhhhhhh.

So leaving town, I'm driving at a steady pace and this is playing heavily on my mind cos for the life of me I cannot figure out what ppl are drivers are trying to alert me to. Back into Aldershot and as I am heading down the High Street, this old bloke is waving his arms about the place and pointing at the car.....now I am seriously and truly well fecked off. So off home and another two drivers have flashed me.......I give up, God knows what the hell they are trying to tell me. Have spent about half hour or so, looking about the engine bay, under the car and playing about with the lgith switches trying to see if I can find anything wrong, but for the life of me I cant.

Is the car levitating in any way?
Is the car dancing the cha cha whilst you are driving along?
Is Jeremy Beadle in the neighbourhood?
Do you drive a car with flashing blue lights?

How weird, only thing I can think of which is highly unlikely anyway, is that something is causing the down pipe/s to glow red hot. This might be noticable from the front, but I doubt it!
I say this, as I noticed this on an oncoming Merc. the other day, he pulled into a layby & the car burnt out.

ha fecking ha

Its funny you mention the downpipes glowing red hot, cos even with the fan blowing cold(ish) air, the cabin gets very hot, lots of fumy smells as well. Whatever it going on, its enough to cause ppl some level of alarm, judging by their frantic light flashing and hand gestures (not the w@nker ones).

I suppose if the ecu thought it was stolen & put the hazzrd flashers on you would notice from the dash, a perplexing dilema, you will need to go out on the road with a friend in another car I guess to duplicate the experience

does your suspension set up cause the arse-end of your car to sit down? If so, your low beam headlights will look full beam. Obvious I know but noone else had mentioned it yet. Other than that, try swapping your vauxhall badges for the correct Holden ones. That should stop it.

Mose.....if all else fails, I live in Ash Vale, just a few mins from Aldershot. You're welcome to pop around Sunday afternoon and do some "drive bys" while I watch from the kerb.

I'm down to Somerset tomorrow morning, but should be back late Sunday afternoon.

Let me know if that's of use.

Paul

Do you drive with your lights on?

Have you checked your wheel nuts?

Have you checked tyre pressures?

Is the car smoking?

Dying to know myself what it is now!

Cheers

Maybe your lights are turning themselves on, conceivably a faulty relay could cause them to flicker on and off by themselves?

Sorry MOSE,

This has nothing to do with your probs, but a big up is needed for Dan S V8 as he has correctly pointed out who cares what badge it has, they all come from the same stable, I'm a new boy to this site, and the only thing that has put me off is the constant "oneupmanship" which underlies in a lot of the posts, does it matter if your a millionaire, or if you're just spannering up an old wreck! In this country the breed is as rare as a Ferrari, and we all chose it for the same reasons. a bit more community spirit is needed! and not using this forum as a showcase as to say "look what i've got"

Rant over, Good motoring,

Whilst not wanting to sound argumentative, what????

This is the most informative and enthusiastic forum that i am aware of, there is banter, jokes, a little needle but ultimately it is a very friendly place full of appreciation of each others exceptional taste. Community spirit, it has it in spades!!!

Hopefully in time you will agree.

While I thank you for agreeing with me, indeed all the cars be they Holdens or HSV's are awesome with plenty of options to improve them, I have to say that Caspy's point is just as valid - if you can't joke and take a little rough talk then your community is ultimately flawed as no one will want to confront real issues when they arise. This forum, while strained at times as the various tuners have to battle so hard for the very tiny (comparitively) demand for tuning goods due to the low numbers of Monaro's, Holdens and HSV's (please don't split hairs with me!) in our country, it is generally good natured, informative and great fun. Come to a meet in the future and you will see what I mean!

...to continue Dan S V8's point..

It's also comferting to know that when you do have a problem, which doesn't even have to be related to cars, everyone pulls together and tries to help out..
