I can't find the thread but I remember reading on here that the Monaro has some badly protected areas. I think they are under the body (maybe the wheel wells). I think it's because the Aussies don't see the need for the same amount of protection on their cars as the weather there is so much better. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I remember that post, I am pretty sure it was Roger from Monkfish. I was even going to talk to him on thursday at the now named Tea and Turbo evening.

I mentioned it as part of my 'gushing' thread in honor of the sport pac they'd just put on.

It was posted in October/November I think but I can't remember myself now where Roger said the spots were.

Perhaps he could remind us?

My 05 VXR has a sort of plastic film covering the underside of the sils and wheel arches.

It's starting to blister and/or come away & collect mud & dirt.

Can I take this all off or should I leave it?

The Monaro/Pontiac GTO is fully dipped for corrosion protection and carries a perforation warranty.
Other Holden product do not.

Reason being is that Pontiac needed a fully proofed car for their markets. We were able to piggy back on that programme

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the SE to get this done on a 2000 R8?

Richard, we can do this for you if required. Please contact me for further details.

Regarding the "unprotected areas", the advice i normally give (for uk spec monaros)is if you intend to keep the car longterm , then yes, well worth doing. Otherwise, its probably not worth the expense.
