Hi Everyone

I am not sure of the boot on my 05 Monaro VXR works correctly.

If I press the remote button on the key, it opens but doesn't pop up. I have to physically pull the boot up whilst pressing the button. Which isn't easiest carrying a baby in the car seat and shopping in the other!

Also, if I press the remote boot opening button in the glove box, the boot doesnt open, I can hear a click but no boot opening, and it remains stuck.

Is this normal on both accounts? Maybe it news a new gas cylinder thing?

Cheers

Mine's the same, think it's how it's supposed to be.

No gas struts in the CV8, only some mahoosive bootlid bracketry and some springs etc.

As I recall, a press of either the interior button, or the button on the key merely releases the boot catch. It is then necessary to manually lift the boot open.....but I do not remember it being necessary to continue pressing the key fob at the same time.....mine is however the CV8 but I see no reason why the VXR would be different (although someone more enlightened may say otherwise)

Yep - CV8 again, but a press of either button releases the boot catch. One hand can then be used to lift the boot lid.

Weight of the spoiler?

Built-in sense of futility at trying to fit anything into the '05 boot?

Ok, there are 2 rubber buffers that you can adj on the inside of the lid, this will make the lid clear the lock when pressed, the lid is designed to stay down by its own weight to prevent it lifting wile driving, the struts are just to assist lifting.
hope this helps

MikeGF, my VTII does the same. I rarely use the boot and as such the lid sticks to the rubber seal. The cure is to simply clean the rubber seal and spray the mechanism on the boot lid with some white grease. Works every time for me.

I have a similar problem.

Sometimes when I press the boot release u can hear the "wirring" noise but you can't open the boot. It sometimes takes two or three goes.

I do have an HSV spoiler on the back - could this be the problem.
