Views from my humble abode overlooking Hoy Sound. Don't be fooled by the nice day, in the winter it can blow harder than the Monaro at full tick!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve flown in/out Scatsta and Sumburgh many times and never seen a tree or traffic. Although a little further north assume roads are similar. Must be great?

Out of curiosity...

Did you have an LS1 engine and box for sale on ebay a few months ago ??

The seller said they were in the Orkney islands, and was a newish member with little feedback.

Given the location etc...I assumed it was a dodgy seller, as there was little-no chance of picking the engine up face to face.

Not me Stevie, I would agree - dodgy seller right enough! Unless someone's nicked mine while it has been in the garage. Better go and have a look.

Roads are similar but the local council keep surface dressing the roads and rely on the vehicles to bed the chips in to the tar. Does wonders for stone chips! If you want a rewarding drive up in Scotland, take the road to Bonar Bridge when heading north from Inverness then head towards Lairg and then either branch off at Altnaharra to Bettyhill or carry on to Tongue. Head towards Thurso/John O'Groats and catch the ferry to Orkney. See you sometime!

Excellent fast A class road Sumburgh to Lerwick, did it fortnightly for two years while I was based at Sumburgh. Roads seem to be maintained to a much higher standard on Shetland, must be oil money. This probablely explains the number of to$$er$ in new four wheel drives although they soon gave way when confronted with my rust bucket cavalier.
