Well firstly my thanks to Big Nige for releasing the ticket to me for 20% of its value,
shame you could not make it & so pleased that I could. Goodwood really impressed me, all the track is resurfaced to a very high standard, the pits are new and hospitality suites being built, their team a very friendly and were constantly asking me if I was enjoying the day, marshals friendly & courteous but firm. Must say IMHO Goodwood would be a great place to organise a meet, you could even bring the children to watch.

Instruction very good indeed, you could have instruction on every session if you wanted, Antony Read was just one of them, I could have had more but I got round safely which is THE most important aspect, no towing eyes on the GTS so if you needed to be recovered it would be off with your wing mirrors!
Noise was an issue, 102.9 db at 4,100 RPM measured 1/2 a metre from tip but once my confidence had grown I was giving it more around the track and got pulled over for being over 105 db, so you have to ease off where the noise metres are on track if you want to continue.
VX220 turbo & RS Focus were more agile than my 2 ton beast and even 570 BHP could not keep up with the aforementioned on the straights! weight is everythging and power not so important by comparison, so in conclusion the beast is not an ideal track car (never thought it was) but everyone enjoyed the noise it made. Took a passenger round who was with the VX220 turbo and he said he could feel the power of mine which was not present in the VX 220 which suprised him.

Oh, forgot about brakes, the big AP had to work hard and started to squeal after a while, worked well but Goodwood is a fast circuit and you need to take a lot of speed off for the corners continually so brakes will be working overtime, first session with an instructor for 15 mins produced smoke from the front calipers at rest (no cooling down lap). Did a cool down lap (no brake application) on other sessions and no smoke.

Goodwood is one of my favourite tracks (along with Donnington) but it does require some extra respect as the run off areas are limited!!!!!
My claim to fame is falling off the track at the same place "Sir Sterling" had his career ending crash!!!!! fortunately mine did not end in hospital......
But come on "V8 HSV" passed by a Ford!!!!!!!! I hope "EH*Rob" doesn't get to hear about it........

Yes, passed by a Ford indeed, also a Vauxhall VX220 turbo & a Porsche GT2, oh yes and a a 6.3 ltr Ultima - I'm not proud!
I think I could have sorted the Ford out but then I think the track would have sorted me out too.
ukhsv, what do you think to organising an hsv.org track day, 25 cars @ £265 per head, be a great day for drivers & spectators & hopefully sponsors?
