Personalised Number Plates - am I sad?
Discussion
I have just got my self a new DVLA prefix style number plate for the Monaro.
I have to admit I was a bit hesitant at first because I know some think it is a bit showy. It doesn’t really matter know because I have handed over £400 big ones for the privilege!
I just wondered if people have or experienced similar feedback?
Regards,
Richard.

I've had personalised reg for the past 8 years and all I've ever got is positive feedback. Its personalised to the car rather than me which I prefer but is a pain as it meaningless now I'm joining the Monaro fold. In fact I've been having a nghtmare finding one I like for the Monaro I think of it more as a finishing touch rather than being showy, like giving the motor a nice shiney polish but I guess as with everything its down to personal opinion and theres always gonna be ppl who think its crass.
I bought V8 FUN from the DVLA the morning the V regs were issued a few years back. Paid £400 for it and then sold it privately for £4000! It was a fab plate and would have loved to have kept it, but at the time it helped fund the purchase of my Cerbera.
Now got R8CKT, hence Rocket. Nice n short, and only £250!

Plates with the wrong spacing, wrong fonts, or securing bolts used to make a letter look like something else all look highly naff imo. Best left for the Chavved up Fiesta brigade. There's nothing wrong with a personal plate that obviously relates to the car, and is displayed properly. GM04 MON is on mine

I agree...to a degree...once saw on the M6 an XK8 with securing bolts in req'd place, the reg of A42 XKB which, of course, read A4.2 XK8 - quite tasty!
