Well, it's a bit quiet in here and I'm a proud owner so...here we go.

BMW R1200GS Adventure, picked it up this morning.

Look at the range on that! 33litre fuel tank on it.

Nige.......exactly how may bikes have you got?!?

Very nice by the way. Is it similar to the ones Ewan and co for the Long Way Round?

Nice, I had the 1150GS, sold it just after the 1200 came out. How does it compare? I know it's a lot lighter than the 1150. Haven't got round to having a demo. ride yet.

The 1200 is much more Japanese in feel to the 1150 which itself is probably more an evolution on the 1100 than a brand new bike so to speak.
It's more revvy, makes more power & is a lot lighter (195kg compared to about 230 I think)

The 1200GS ADv is an evolution of the stock 1200 but I think is better for weather protection (that tank is hoooj!) and seems to have a more integrated feel than the stock bike (to me anyway, but that could just be new bike euphoria )

The clocks are a lot better on the Adv - they respond to input a lot more quickly and the "font" is nicer, more professional.
The Adv carries the weight of a full tank very well - you can feel it but it doesn't impinge, the suspension is more compliant as well whihc helps as it goes.
The engine & gearbox is better (more power & more slick) with the brakes being as powerful but lacking in feel as always.
Very tall bike, I can only just get both feet on the deck and so am thinking about a low seat option.

I love it so far.

I'd probably go for the stock 1200 as I found the stock 1150 more wieldy/nimble in heavy traffic than the 1150Adven., but I'd try both of course.
At 6ft7" the 1150GS was an obvious choice for me. I really like your Triumph Scrambler, do you think it would be too small for me?

It's a nice bike the Scrambler, but maybe not as comfy as you might think - the seat is quite thinly padded.
Of course, Triumph do a gel seat option for it...can't think why...

Ergonomics wise it's fine for me at 6ft, everything is nicely spaced out and the bike feels bigger than it is.
It's not a hugely powered bike but it has the same torque output as the Thruxton at 69ft/lb so is pretty tractable.

Maybe try one?
Every Triumph dealer as one as a demo bike - at £5700 it's a lot of bike for the money.

I just love the looks, not too bothered about dynamics/power as I'd just potter about on something like that.
What I really want is one of these www.confederate.com/

I have a Triumph Scrambler too. Not quite your height at 6'1" and bit but both my 6'6" sons ride it with no trouble if of any help

Thanks, kinda wished you had said that there was no way I'd fit on it though! I want one, along with a Corvette ZO6 (even though it's LHD only) a Caterham & a Chrysler 300C (makes me laugh every time I see one).
Maybe I'll win the lottery!

Shame you're so far away from me Tom, would happily let you ride my Scrambler - I have the "sports" (read loud) pipes on it as well.

Thanks for the offer Nige. I must finish/continue the restoration of our house, problem is everything works, no leaks etc. & I'd rather spend the £'s on cars & bikes.
I think I need some sort of anti car/bike lobotomy.

Slightly unrelated but I had such a biking bargain I had to tell someone:

Managed to track down some Dunlop 207s for the R1, there's not many around any more so theyre going fairly cheap and theyre a damn good tyre. £175 fitted for the pair, ride in/out. Not bad when you consider the old D218 that is OE costs £165 just for rear without fitting!
