The 1200 is much more Japanese in feel to the 1150 which itself is probably more an evolution on the 1100 than a brand new bike so to speak.
It's more revvy, makes more power & is a lot lighter (195kg compared to about 230 I think)
The 1200GS ADv is an evolution of the stock 1200 but I think is better for weather protection (that tank is hoooj!) and seems to have a more integrated feel than the stock bike (to me anyway, but that could just be new bike euphoria )
The clocks are a lot better on the Adv - they respond to input a lot more quickly and the "font" is nicer, more professional.
The Adv carries the weight of a full tank very well - you can feel it but it doesn't impinge, the suspension is more compliant as well whihc helps as it goes.
The engine & gearbox is better (more power & more slick) with the brakes being as powerful but lacking in feel as always.
Very tall bike, I can only just get both feet on the deck and so am thinking about a low seat option.
I love it so far.

It's a nice bike the Scrambler, but maybe not as comfy as you might think - the seat is quite thinly padded.
Of course, Triumph do a gel seat option for it...can't think why...
Ergonomics wise it's fine for me at 6ft, everything is nicely spaced out and the bike feels bigger than it is.
It's not a hugely powered bike but it has the same torque output as the Thruxton at 69ft/lb so is pretty tractable.
Maybe try one?
Every Triumph dealer as one as a demo bike - at £5700 it's a lot of bike for the money.

I just love the looks, not too bothered about dynamics/power as I'd just potter about on something like that.

I'd probably go for the stock 1200 as I found the stock 1150 more wieldy/nimble in heavy traffic than the 1150Adven., but I'd try both of course.
At 6ft7" the 1150GS was an obvious choice for me. I really like your Triumph Scrambler, do you think it would be too small for me?

I have a Triumph Scrambler too. Not quite your height at 6'1" and bit but both my 6'6" sons ride it with no trouble if of any help
Slightly unrelated but I had such a biking bargain I had to tell someone:
Managed to track down some Dunlop 207s for the R1, there's not many around any more so theyre going fairly cheap and theyre a damn good tyre. £175 fitted for the pair, ride in/out. Not bad when you consider the old D218 that is OE costs £165 just for rear without fitting!
