Can someone lend me a small child for 30mins or so to change the back left ignition lead. Bought myself a set of the magnecor leads from LSV thinking this will be easy - well it is if you have hands the size of said small child. Is there some secret technique to get in there to change that lead - I hope I never have to try changing that sparkplug because short of taking the brake servo out there isnt a hope in hell of getting a socket anywhere near it.

Yeah, you can just get the lead on and off from the top, but the spark plug I did from underneath. Not easy.
Just need to make sure you "click" the lead on firmly. I forgot as I left that one till last and wondered why the car was running a bit sick.. sure enough, forgot to fit that one.

I did that anyway - wasn't even going to attempt it with that in place - I've still got that daft ninja turtle shell that stops you getting anywhere near the interesting parts of the car. Just where that last cable is positioned the gap to reach it past all the brake lines out the servo is a bit on the tight side - maybe its just my big fat hands and wrists that can't fit in the space. I'll have a go at it when I've got some spare time later in the week - just wondered if there was a knack to getting to it without risking either a)getting arm stuck or b)bending brake pipes

Hi Bob

I find it easier if you do it standing/laying over the front of the car with your arm outstretched parallel to the cyliner head rather than trying to get down past the servo.

think I'll have a go with the lying across the engine from the front - had another look tonight and I reckon if I dislocate my shoulder I might just be able to contort enough to get in to the lead

Could try undoing the coil pack at the back and middle and just swing it upwards. May have to undo the turtle mounting bolts too. They have some nasty pointed bolts on them, normally have me bleeding! I normally remove the coil packs when I do spark plug changes too, gives better access. Might be overkill but works for me.

Quite a few lose the turtle cover as it holds heat in and hides the mighty engine.
Maybe consider storing it in the garage.
