Looking on JHP site I came across these MAF pipes which claim to give a power increase of up to 5kw. Question is would you need a tune to get that extra power out or is this a cheap and easy way of gaining a couple of extra horses for anyone that can work a screwdriver?

It is hard to tell which one pipe that is. The genuine article you want is the HSV VTII/VX /VY GTS pipe. I will find the part number in due course. This one can be made to fit with and without a MAF. I have one on my older car with a MAF. However when tune time comes and it goes MAFless, I can jsut substitute the rubber joiner where the MAF is.
The other pipe is the VYII HSV pipe that uses the MAF. This pipe looks similar however it tapers down near the MAF to a smaller diameter.
The do work ok, but a tune optimises them! I am sure one of the sponsors would have them in stock too!

Just put the JHP one on the other night. Can't remember the part number or exact description, but it said something about 300kW.
I already had a tune in the car, and it's hard to judge any noticeable performance increase from just the MAF pipe. The heart says "yes I can really feel it", the head says "you're just imagining it".
If it's gonna make you happy, just do it!
Forgot to add: Yes it's a screwdriver job. And the VAT levied by Customs came to £17 and something.

Several members, including myself, have the CS Performance Carbon Fibre MAF/MAFless pipe available from:
www.andy-saunders.co.uk/csperformance/
IIRC WRC used to stock them although I bought mine directly from Andy. All pipes are hand made.
It makes life easier if you also order the "Pipe Fix Kit". It consists of two large jubilee clips and a short section of high quality hose to connect the pipe to the throttle body & MAF to allow flex.

I am currently running MAFless with pretty damn good results. Wiill know in teh next couple of weeks if this is goin gto stay this way if so I have MAF pipe and 85mm MAF that well be up for grabs. If you have this you will need tuning but resulst are very good over standard especially if you do exhaust and headers.
On that front may have a set of Pacemakers 4 into 1's for sale very soon if anyone is interested. Will make a huge difference to sound and peformance over standard...
All items above supplied through Wortec and fitted by one or more of their apporved dealers.
