That's one thing that disappointed me with my new CV8. A premium car with a radio that doesn't even have AF or RDS. This is 2006, not 1986 Especially after all the specification hype on the website.

Ah well, back to getting the windows down again to grin at the Sportpac growlllllll

Totally agree how frustrating it is without, especially RDS. System is Australian in design features and I dont know whether they have RDS over there due to the size of the place.

.... My dad sometimes made a half-hearted attempt to put the radio on.....

I took my Dad on a trip the other week. I had Radio 2 on and he just reached over and tuned in to Radio 4 without asking!!

I had flashbacks of my yoof (sic) and my Dad saying........

"When you've bought & paid for your own car, then you get to decide what plays on the radio"

Oh how revenge is sweet......... I managed to find that banging Acid House/Trance/Euphoria CD that played very loudly all the way through....

Surely the difference £700 would make for a new head unit and even a mediocre set of aftermarket cross-overs or whatever would be worth the investment? Considering what some people spend on other stuff. Personally, I rate sound quality (NB: not volume) as being as important as acceleration.
If you do 20,000miles a year it will cost you 3p a mile to have the facility to enhance your driving experience exponentially over the OE unit. Considering even a "premium" system costs HSV all of about $200 per car Id say (guess!).

I remember MOTOR magazine have an excellent column on ICE each month and the journo was saying that on your average Commodore/Falcon/Camry, the manufacturer has spent around $30AUD on the OE head unit and $10-20 TOTAL on the speakers if you have 6 of them.

The system in the lightning is arse too. Its only redeeming feature is that its an in-dash 6-stacker. Sadly its not mine to replace with a good one.

I do listen to music whilst driving as ive stated above, but my first reason for that is, i do have standard pipes at the mo, and the second is that i do find just chilin out whilst cruising is sooo relaxing. But, and the big BUT is, considering the Monaro system is supposed to be premium sound, why does it sound so sh1te.
10 speakers, Blaupunkt technology, and it sounds lame, very little punch- oh well you cant have everything i suppose, one of the best cars in the world and im moaning about the bloomin music-lol!

Paul :-)

You can alter the bass by accessing the amp in the boot. Behind the fire extinguisher. Take the trim off and put your hand in and you will find the amp. At the front of the amp is a knob to adjust bass levels independent of the head unit. May just give it the edge you are looking for.

Caspy, is it just Paul's that has an adjustable amp in the boot?
If it's standard, then which side of the boot do I remove the trim?

All of them have the amp in the boot. As you look at boot, on the left. There is a grey carpet panel with push in fixings. If you remove that, you will access a metal plate, bolted to the back of the plate is the amp. You will have to do by feel, unless you want to undo the screws and take it off.

When having fun listen too the car only.

Work journeys the radio, frequently re-tuning to hold a station or when bored of the current station.
Also re-tune for the traffic reports, boring i know but usefull.

Real Chillin out, Little Feat are the fave, or Jackson Browne.

Mose u got taste!

For general chillin anything between A to Z!

As I think I am the only 'pro' muzo on this board?
Can I take this oppotunity to recommend the new Muse album, any body who has heard it and does not agree, please form an orderly line.

Don't blame me mind if you are done for speeding whilst listening to it. It has the same effect as owning a red Monaro (extra speed)

FAO Rodger-Monkfish, Buy a copy Rodger it might help your musical tastes, but then so would taking the CD player out of your car!
Techno Techno Techno notice!
