Sort of thinking about replacing my Tiv and my daily car with one car - attempting to do the job of both.

Have any of you guys dumped your TVR in favour of a Monaro?

Cheers.

I have owned Griffx2, Cerb x2, T350 and now I am on second Monaro.

Its a very different type of car, heavier and bigger but its durable and a true everyday proposition.

Plus if you fit a wortec exhaust it makes a better noise than a TVR. It returns 23-24mpg which is reasonable...

What’s the depreciation like?

Cheers.

initial depreciation is savage, which for me was great news.

my first 3 mile old 04MY (05 Reg) cv8 cost me just £22k (retail 30k), sold it for 21k in November.

my second 04 VXR cost me low 20's. A 6L VXR can be bought for £26-£28k (38k new)

a 04 cv8 can now be bought for a bargain £15.5k

At these prices they will depreciate, but slowly in comparison with any other car you could spend this much money on....

How weird's that? - Just posted not 15 mins ago - So far, so good! Just like a TVR only built by a mass producer - Try it, you'll like it!

Funny eh! My Tiv's a 5 litre Chimaera!

So, the Monaro's headroom - what's it like. I'm 6'2".

Cheers.

Did exactly the same!

Had a P reg Chimaera 4l, which I chopped in for a 54 plate T350c, which I chopped in temporarily with a VX220T whilst I decided what to replace the Tiv with. Came to the conclusion it was the Monaro. It had everything the TVR had, and more, I missed the V8 noise with the speed 6 engine, and it has the V8 burble, I had to replace the T350 with a family car as we had a little one on the way (now a beautiful 6 month old girl) and needed 4 seats, and the baby seat fits however I still have the TVR power, I see more TVR's than Monaro's, and I was just coming up to a 12k mile in the T350 - ouch! Vauxhall prices seem much more acceptable

I dont miss either of my TVR's at all, a lot of TVR owners are either thinking of, or going this route, as it offers all that TVR's do, but with a little bit more, all IMHO. I know I have made the right decision.

THe drive is different, but as the learned people on here say, that can be fixed. The only change I would make (which I WILL be making) is a bit more noise, coming from both TVR's I want the car to be louder, so a Wortec exhaust is to be fitted soon..
Try it, you won't be dissapointed!!

Any specific questions you have let me know, kind of rushed this answer in between meetings

Cheers

I bought my Cerbera 6 years ago and it is a fantastic experience, 400hp go-cart and a proper drivers car. I needed a replacement, the Cebera owed me nothing so i have kept it as a summer car and bought a 5.7 VXR in red and silver.

The Monaro is awesome and the benefits for me are great engine, looks and enough technology to make it an easy experience to use every day, without having to think about it.

Totally different cars near the top of their separate League tables

Yep. Ex Chimara owner (but had a few other cars on the way). Like the Monaro lots -but the exhaust could be louder.

That's not a problem though as there is a hugh mod market. Straight through pipes, remaps, turbos, superchargers, suspension, brakes (none of which I've done yet)

Loads of headroom. 6 foot tall - could drive wearing a top hat.

And if you get a 2004 model a HUGE boot.

Just wish I could heel & toe in it.

I had a 400SE for 4 years and then a Cerbera for 4 years and loved them both. I really miss the Cerb, but the running costs were just too high in the end. That, plus the kids growing fast meant it was time to move on. I've always fancied a Yank V8, but mrs rocket doesn't like American cars. The Monaro was the only one that ticked all the right boxes, and I love it!
