Well you were a bit out of place there amongst that lot. I find that in these meets people tend to "ignore" the Monaro almost like it isn't there. The photos speak for themselves. Not a word about the Monaro in the follow up either despite it being the best car by a VERY long way. Strange that Doh banghead In fact I'll even go as far as to say you completely outclassed the other complete pieces of sh!t on display. There I said it!

I get really hacked with this sort of attitude!! The Monaro is, indeed, a fine car but not everyone can afford or wants a Monaro. Bear in mind that a lot of these lads are in their early twenties and are very probably just as proud of their cars as Willisit is of his Monaro.

Comments like this make you no better than the average prestige car driver.

I am not denying that everyone is entitled to an opinion but badge snobbery get's up my nose that's all. Everyone lives within their means and to call what others work hard for "a load of sh!t" is unnecessary.

I could come on here raving about the LC saying that it's faster, better, will whoop a 6.0 litre Monaro in pretty much every way but what would it achieve? Absolutely nothing except putting people noses out of joint, at the end of the day the V8's have just as many fine attributes. I am sure that there are plenty of tweaked Novas and Astras that will give an HSV or a Monaro a run for their money.

And before you get the arse ache, it's your 'get over it' comment that has rattled me, I whole heartedly agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion. But perhaps some opinions should not be expressed. I tend to work on the basis, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything.

One of those chaps (Jamie) is responsible for my Calibra being finished and running - what he doesn't know about 4-pot Vauxhalls isn't worth knowing.

But they are a great bunch and have some lovely examples of their cars - the Mk2 Astras in particular.

Sure the VXR is a bit different, but they wanted in there and loved to have poke and a prod - and why not. I didn't buy it to be shy

Blimey, it doesn't often kick off in here, does it!

Now that everyone is (hopefully) friends again, perhaps LC can tell us all about his Lotus. 377bhp from a "family saloon" car was pretty awesome when the car was launched. Do you remember the headlines, screaming for the car to be banned?

So LC, is it a daily driver or a toy? Tell us you experiences.

It's an awesome car but like any other high performance car, it has its weaknesses. I no longer own one (family needed a bigger house) so, as all good things come to an end, it had to go. It's an exceptionally quick car in gear (50-70 in 2 seconds in 2nd gear) but can be a bit agricultural to drive with a heavy clutch and rugged transmission. I have recently had the use of a 6.0 Monaro VXR for four days which I enjoyed greatly but if it was out and out performance (and practicality) I was after I would take thLC all day but for driveability, the Monaro wins hands down. If it was down to looks, I really would be torn as I love both equally. Now, if it was down to sound track, it would be no contest, the LC sounds good but the Monaro with the sports exhaust sounds fabulous. I did about 400 miles over the weekend I had the car and the radio was on for less than 15 minutes.

I never used the LC as an every day car but my father-in-law had one that was used daily by it's previous owner and covered 190k miles before selling it on.

I have a web site at www.lotus-carlton.co.uk if anyone is interested.

I think it should be 4.2 secs from 30-70 for the LC and all those times are taken with two people inside. So as with all GM figures for this car its a tad on the conservative side
