Wow! Love looking at shiney bits! Is the block a standard 4 bolt mains or has it been modded? Them rods n pistons look awesome too, are they aftermarket?

How much is all this costing?

Do you get a dynamic balance and to what weight?

Yeah rods look well chunky, pistons look nice too.
What crank are you using.. any pics of that smile
IIRC thats a Darton MID wet sleeve LS1 block? 4" stroke and 4.125" bore?

Must admit, after I seen pics of a Callies crank, it makes me wish I had used on instead of the Eagle crank.

Nothing wrong with the eagle, and nobody sees it....but the Callies just looks soo much better.

Id liked to have used Oliver rods too, but it all came down to cost.. So I used Callies rods.

Hello Stevie,

That's the Magnum APO forgeing which apart from being the best they have is also hand fettled. See the bull nosed leading edges on the counter weights. Rods are true billet titanium as opposed to ls7 forgings. Rods weigh 500 grams and have a full width little end, unlike the ls7. The block is early ls1 and darton wet linered. I've dowelled the caps to improve location.

Delmeekc, the studs are coppergreased into the block to stop them seizing and to prevent any chemical reaction between different metals. The cap nuts get installed with moly lube under the washers and under the nuts. Caps are installed now smile As for balancing, I get the cranks rough balanced in the US to suit titanium componants because I know the appx weights. Then I get a final dynamic balance done over here once I have the flywheel/clutch. This engine has a twin plate McLeod. Internal componants were matched/hand fettled to less then 1 gram before I did the dynamic balance.

Combustion chambers and valve faces have been heat treated hence the shine and the exhaust ports have been treated inside which is why they are black. Valve stems are nice and slippery. Pistons and heads will be installed next week and then I'll assemble Harry's plenum and all it's injectors!

Boosted.

Saw it sitting there today, seems like there is still a lot of work to be done.

Are the rear seats a permanent removal or just for while it is being built?

I know your rear tyres are wider than a normal Monaro but I still can't help thinking they are going to be struggling a lot! Maybe you should borrow some Veyron rear wheels

Nah, the Veyron runs puny 335 section rear tyres. The Viper SRT-10 runs 345s smile

Week 2

Stopped off at Rogers on the way back from VMAX with the whip. Small amount of progress this week. Old engine still in place with bits removed to mock up turbo placement so that final install is easier. They look cosy....

Old fuel tank removed so that new one can be installed. Should be the last time we see that spare wheel well.

Engine also still in progress, crank now installed

Just spotted this. WOW!! It reads like a who's who of shiney bits caressed together by the LSX wonderboy himself. I've seen his motors before, the tolerances are so close you cant tell the motor is running at idle its that smooth. If you drive as well as this is specced your gonna be fast. Its certainly going to be a smile generator.

Wow harry... that thing is going to be a monster... your not wrong about things getting cosy that is for sure.. Definitely going to be interesting to see how you go with all that heat in there. Guess you aren't gonna want to be sitting still in traffic for too long. Umm, might have to talk to the Mrs to find out if I can put a TT in rather than a supercharger..

Why a new fuel tank? Is is cause normally it is going to get sucked dry after 10 minutes?

So twin exit exhausts can be fitted I think.
