I had mine done at Capitol Autogas for a cost of £2.3K.

SteveMJ: My conversion was about £100 more. I converted as I was commuting 2x 40miles per day.
Tank capacity only allows me 120 - 140 miles between fills

POSITIVES:

LPG cars run MUCH cooler cylinder and intake temperatures because LPG is so cold. This is particularly good for supercharged and turbocharged but with any LS series engine is a good thing due to the fragility of the pistons.

SteveMJ: I have upper cylinder lubrication too, recommended as LPG is drier - don't ask me to explain.

I use my car as a daily runabout, not a weekend toy. LPG costs around 60p/litre instead of the £1.30 I was paying at Shell for 98RON petrol.
SteveMJ: Me too I only have one car. I put any cost of a smaller 'runabout' towards the VXR8. I know of so many peeps with 'fun' cars that are hardly ever driven!!

I can't remember when I last bought petrol. I think it was in June.

SteveMJ: 3 June I last filled up - still have half a tank :-)

Road tax is well under £200!

SteveMJ: !!!?? I got mine changed to be alternate fule - saves about £15/annum only - How did you get tax at £200: Mine was £425 I think :-(

The best thing? Essentially having a 500 BHP car that returns 40MPG!
SteveMJ: 400BHP that looks like 50+ mpg (sometimes, ha ha)

Hi Steve,

We truly are gas guzzlers, a pint pot of the stuff every two miles.

SteveMJ: I have upper cylinder lubrication too, recommended as LPG is drier - don't ask me to explain.

> Flash Lube. I have the electronic version that is controlled by the BRC ECU to provide a shot into the inlet based upon RPM and engine loading etc. It is designed to replace the natural lubrication found in petrol, helping prolong the life of your valves and valves seats. Do you find that the cap leaks a little causing a coating of lube to cover the outside of the bottle? If not, would you mind taking off your cap and seeing if it has a rubber seal inside the cap please? Mine does not but I think it should.

> Even though my car was registered after the cutoff date, it was manufactured in Aus before 01/03/06. This means that I don't pay the increased rate and with the LPG tax rebate I think I pay £185 PA.

Cheers,

Addendum:

After a trip to Monkfish to sort some poor running issues, we found that some of the installation practices of CAG were seriously lacking and the cause of most of the problems. I won't go into details here as the PH moderators may delete the post to protect flawed suppliers rather than their own PH community members. If you want details, email me.

I still am a fan of LPG but I suggest you talk to Roger at MF who know a better installer (one of his clients). Thanks to them mine's all sorted now but it cost the best part of £1K to rectify the issues. It seems unlikely CAG will help.

No I do not have a coating on the outside, mine works by a very simple crude siphoning system. I stupidly lost the bottle top after filling for the first time. I replaced the top with another one from a bottle of 2-stroke oil, as I was concerned about dust getting into the lubricant and then into the engine.
