Discussion
Australia Day @ The Ace Cafe, will be on 27th Jan 2008..........starting around 11.00am
This event has become the largest gathering of Australian made cars in the UK..................Most of them Holden and HSV but the event is open to all Australian made cars.
Last year the Ace's carpark was full by 11.30am (some 45+ cars) and cars were parking on the road......
More details to follow.....

I've never been to this event, and I doubt i'll be going in '08 to be honest. I get the feeling that it'll be full of Aussies moaning about british weather and/or the femininity of their rugby team, and its inability to scrum....
95% of the people there are not from Australia..............just lovers of the cars...

I have been to 4, one where I literally got off a plane and drove straight there good way to start the year normally we fill the car park and overflow onto the road.
Thats right, mainly Poms there.
The Aussies I know tend to end up at the Walkabout, RedBack, The Church or any other alcoholic location for Australia day.
Hanging about in January, middle of winter, in a car park is more an english trait.
That being said they last few times the weather has been quite kind.

Bearing in mind that mine is sold as a HSV over there, and bearing in mind I have also removed the rear Griffin so as not to confuse any Koala'd, might I get away with coming along to this?
If not no worries

Ace café wont let you park in the car park - Aussie's tried two year's runnoing now and he's an Oz

I'll take that comment back Rob!! I'd be there if I lived within and hours drive or so...
Thats ok mate, try to go it's a great day & all the lads are good guys willing to help fellow Holden/Vauxhall GM car owners.
In 2005 my last yr in UK I drove my 1964 EH Holden to the even from Southampton with the family freezing in the back. (No heater & quarter windows open to demist the windscreen ) Was worth it as the Sun usually comes out for the event.
Regards Rob.
Sorry not moaning about british weather ha ha.
