Hi Mate, no I`ll let them run at the mo, problem is I have more of the same at home so don`t want to junk them without a proper try.

My fault for being a tight arse.

You going to make Santa Pod?

Bet your lad`s car would do well.

Now there's a thought scratchchin I have never raced in a straight line before, Jez I will read up on it on their web site and let you know once I know their terms and conditions ( if any). As for my boy he has just reshod his car all round with some Jap budget performance tyres, and as he has not been able to do enough running cycles, he is yet to determine if they are any good as at the moment they are "fishtailing".

Tyres are a funny old thing aren't they, now I used to run in a Sprint Championship for a couple of years, and the lead cars all used Bridgestones S03's as it was a control tyre. So as soon as mine where shot I to plumbed for these and I was usless, the back end was all over the place. I had a big off at Lyden one day so went over to the other guys in the pits and said, hey these tyres are crap!

Well after a long chat I found out what the difference was between my tyres and theirs, the answer was that they all sent their tyres away for "scrubbing" this is a machine proccess that takes off the first 1mm of tread, as the Bridgstone had dual tread technology! The first 1mm was of a harder compound than the rest.

With all that in mind I am of the oppion to write to the tech depts of a few companies and tell them the wheight and BHP/Torques and useage to see what their recomendations are.

Harry oz, if you are reading this can you tell us what tyres you intend to run on with that power output?

The learning curve for me is how each mod has an effect on the handling of the car, for instance when i first got the rr pack the car tramlined for the first time on the Po`s and the blower has greatly affected the breakout point of the tyre, so much so that at the moment the cars no real fun as it feels like its wet all the time.

Still going to give them a good chance though.

But how to get rid of a MM of rubber? evil

Don't know if it is me but when testing on german autobhan the other weekend, the broken in FK's ( now probably 900+ miles in) don't seem to hold true in a straight line. i was having to correct in a straight line constantly. It maybe the tracking - i don't know but it never used to do it. had 160 before in a straight line and no probs but now daren't go over 120 ish. Also the cornering at high speed "wobble" keeps playing on my mind. can anyone confirm this does happen or am i paranoid?

Nope that`s exactly what I get.
Have you got the Monkfish RR pack?

No RR pack, standard CV8 with Sport Pac. Gonna give them a few more miles then do a front to rear swap with the front "budgets" to compare.
Jon - Will put a few more PSI in and see. Thx.

I have completely standard suspension and as such I find them fantastic.

Could you guys be having probs because you have had new/adjusted/tightened up suspension?

I reckon my standard Monaro suspension has enough slack in the bushes etc that I'm not going to notice minute differences such that would be caused by the Falkens, I would only be in a position to notice the overall positives: progressive breakaway etc.....

what are you getting instead jez?
Had a spirited drive in the sunshine today, and maybe due to the higher temps causing higher pressure the falkens weren't too bad at all. still getting used to the prgressive break away though, its actually harder to get the back end swinging unless i boot it hard.

Any recommendations for tyre pressures on Falkens? My new rears were fitted with 36psi and whilst they grip well they are a bit floaty at speed.

As I`m off to Vmax on Sun didn`t want to risk `floating` so I`ve put some P Zero`s back on.

How much, Jez?

Although I must admit that my new(ish) rear 452s let go on a roundabout yesterday morning rather sooner than I might have expected.......

I'm finding the FK452s really aren't enjoying the cold salty roads we have at the moment. Expecting a significant improvement once the roads clean up and the temperature gets above 5c

Update time.

100 miles on some Pirelli P Zero Rossos and the cars right back on it again.

That`s now my tyre of choice.

Convinced the Falkens don`t suit a car with the RR pack.

(interestingly the P O`s weighed far less than the Falkens)

Checked my tyres yesterday 28 psi fronts 33 rear. Put them all up to 36 psi. tramlining gone, high speed stability improved dramatically. Know what you mean about the floaty at speed, but i've put that more down to suspension damping rather than tyre issues.
Anyone on coilovers with FK452's?

I think you're all being a bunch of complaining girls. Even with FI, I think they grip brilliantly in the dry and when they do run out they do so progressively. What's the point of having a powerful, rear wheel drive car if you're going to moan about oversteer?
