not had that with mine.

10 months in now with no problems apart from the screen is quite dim after first starting in the morning. Gets brighter later, normally after auto headlights switch goes from say lights on to off. Anyone seen this?

I did have problems just after i got it with the radio making a loud static noise via the speakers, which Drive at Aldershot eventually traced to a faulty electrical connection behind the glovebox. ( After several visits from a so called expert from Luton). Also the glovebox light does not work, the garage tells me there are no wires going to it !!.........
I'am used to Italian cars, but the aussies are not far behind!

tbh I reckon Vauxhall get all the Friday afternoon production cars, certainly when it comes to the VXR8's as the number of faults being reported is ridiculous for a 35k car. I mean supplying a load of them with split windscreen washer bottles is just careless.

yes I have this too. I tend to find that it happens more when the outside is cold and is fine during warmer days. Although it could be linked to light as obviously colder at night

Very occasionally the dshboard secondary lcd displays go white for a split second. put this down to it periodically reseting.

I am sure somewhere in the settings you can alter the brightness relative to exterior light. Sounds like you are hankering after a VXR8 well fans??

hi caspy

its not that setting. if you mame the screen brighter (i have to chrank up to plus 5/full when it happens) the car will eventually work out that's its not dark and the lights are off and set the screen corectly. problem is with the plus 5 modifier it goes completely white (meaning you have to reset it back to zero again)

it happened to me this morning - turned the headlights on then off and it reset the screen to corect brightness.

however then noticed the front fog lights came on and wouldn't shut of no mater what happened with the lights dial.

to clear this I put the car in reverse and they seemded to switch off the fogs.

i'm pretty much fed up with this - the car eats brakes at 1k each, it leaks through poor sealing and now the electrics have a mind of their own. I was looking forward to supercharging but to be honest i've changed my mind and am already looking to cut losses and trade in for something normal that at least does what its supposed to do and not built remotely correctly.

Funnily enough, my boss was telling me this morning that the entire centre console on his SV6 shut down while he was on his way home last night. Radio, display, aircon etc all went dead.

Yep exactly the problem I have. Nice to know Im not alone.

First time was when I pressed the rear demist button.

Next time it just decided to die, then come alive, then die again by itself. Very intermittent. Obviously a common problem.
Not good when you need aircond, or demist, in fact demist wise its a safety flaw.

Spoke to a dealer near Southampton smile as Im working near there soon. Nothing to report yet as Ive not dropped it off, though they said they would check all the connections first.

Ill do some digging on a few Oz forums and see if its a known issue.

Good old internet, check this thread out.

http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/ve-holden-comm...

"if the display is just not there pull fuse 7 in the LH kick panel for 10 seconds, this will reset it.
its a known issue with the displays & GM are still working on a fix for it.

Rob"

Yeah a few similar threads on ls1.com.au as well.

Seems to be some firmware updates that can be done etc. Also the fact that a reset fixes it suggests its a fault with the controller software/firmware. Rather than a wiring issue. Though some guys have had the whole unit replaced.
Apparently you can check your firmware version by holding the enter button (left scroll) down while turning it on.

I think Ill tell the dealer to update the firmware on everything when I drop it off.

What I mean is, Vx should let customers know there is a problem which they are trying to correct, and not let the dealers take the flack from customers, just goes to show how highly they rate their customer base ...........

Sorry for the rant, but sometimes I feel I should of followed the herd and bought a B...W

But not all cars are suffering and, to be fair, in the same situation, the German brands would probably behave in the same way.
