"Belt slip" sounds like something that happens when your pants fall down.

Lol, just as well none of you take all your banter too seriously eh, otherwise we'll be getting like the Astra boys! yikes

I dont care whether its NA or FI, each to his own medicine I say, all have pros/cons one way or another.

I dont know what exhaust Tinker had but his Mazda sounded blcensoreddy fantastic! I was a bit confused by LS3/427...but it certainly sounded great!

Must admit Rich, I'm struggling to believe £5K cost to change from stock LS2(?) to your mega cam LS7 wink Even when it was US$2/£1, a standard LS7 crate must have been ~US$13K + any additional parts + labour + shipping. Fair play if you did tho'!!

Anyway, looking forward to Shakey to see how everyone fairs...I'll be there for the laugh ('cos I'll be clueless at the lights), the evening dinner and BTCC on Sunday. Hopefully everyone will have fixed their cars and left behind the excuses for poor runs (vs. just getting left at the lights due to being asleep like I'll be). Should be a great day regardless of who does what!! smile

you guys are all mistaken, vtec is where its at. Perfect gearing, optimal cam profile, 9000rpm red line and handling like a go-kart.

t'is not an LS7, its an LS2 with sleeves etc. Hence not LS7 prices. LS2 plus parts..

There is a reason I went the way I did. bhp per £ was one.

http://www.sdparts.com/catalog/lsgeniiigenivperfor...

As you can see once you add heads intake etc, its still not a bad price. Plus the guy I dealt with was helpful on shipping and so on..
Like I said though, you need to add on install time, unless you have the time and resources to do that yourself.

mine has a stroked and bored ls3 block which takes it just over 427cu with et performance heads,1/78 headers, into two 3" centre section into 3.5" rear, and a big cam .these motors can be built for the right money if you do your homework mine is not a money no object build just spend on the right bits (i think) but then i dont pay for labour (god knows how many hours it has taken probably 20 hours per header !!! look at the escort a cam, headers, good exhaust,ls6 intake, thats it, and its a stock ls1 bottom end !!!!!,good day was had by all thanks to every one who made it possible,

I went with the fomular of £'s + Roger/Monkfish = good bhp

If the car is even half capable of what they are hoping it should give most the cars on here a fun for there money apart from of course Jez's and Harry's so we will see smile

Cam + FI has got to be a good option biggrin

Its also good to know there is more than one way to "adequate" power. FI does not have a monopoly on that.

Each to their own wink

lol, surely you have to take the overall average per class, not the sum total of BHP from all the cars in the class!!

Jez, you'll just have to organise another one later in the year so we can take stock of who has gained/lost over the summer tinkering!!

Well I have done the average per class, as well as the total Marque average, which I think would be hard to beat by other group dyno`s TBO.

But most wars are won by weight of numbers and the fact is NA brought more cars

We were a madmunky and a crisisjez short of victory. hehe

Just back read - belt slip...! WTF is that about, it has new belts I thought and wider pullies.

Still 6 rib pullies which was a mistake/oversight, now all being upgraded to 8 rib direct from magnuson. I published the fact I had belt slip issues and shouldn't really have run it. It had already jumped off once on the way down to the dyno. The day before it did a measured 520 whp but I didn't realise how quickly or badly it had stretched. I'm confident it's easily fixed.

what's your point?

My engine has been built with a great combination of quality parts from callies, afr, pwr, difilippo and a blower cam from Pete Knight. It still made 430hp on practically no boost. I'll leave you to work out what it will do on 15psi.

Ask jez if you don't believe me, he helped me put the belt back on after the second run.
