I know its been talked about endlessly on here, but I have tried to clear things up with some photos and descriptions of the various Monaro models that were sold by Vauxhall here in the UK, so here goes;
(Please feel free to correct me if I have made any errors)

V2 series111 CV8. The first official Monaro in the UK, sold from early 2004 and built 'til Sept 2004. 5.7 litre LS1 329 bhp/333 ps. Large boot/single sided exhaust etc. Sold in US as Pontiac GTO with 350bhp 5.7 LS1

VZ CV8. Built from Sept 2004 onwards. 5.7 litre 349bhp/354 ps. Smaller boot/ double sided exhaust etc. Sold in US as Pontiac GTO with 400bhp 6.0 litre LS2.

HSV GTO. Sold in UK as 5.7 VXR, built 'til Sept 04. 5.7 litre LS1 379bhp/382ps. Based on V2 series111 above.

HSV GTO 05. Sold in UK as 6.0 VXR, built from Sept 04 onwards. 6.0 litre LS2 397bhp/404ps. Based on VZ Monaro as above.

Also various versions of the Monaro were sold in Australia from its official launch in 2001. Hope this little guide helps clear up some of the confusion. biggrin
