I think a little MP1900 TVS running say 6lbs boost would put a big smile on Richard's face. At that level it wouldn't sap hardly any power and make the most out of those heads for a solid 600whp! Go on try it, you'll giggle like a girl.  If you didn't like it you could take it off and sell it. What's to lose?

Yeah, I showed Terry who collected the evil engine cover how the first 3 gears lacked some traction. I tried not to be too mental. He seemed happy chatting away during the process.

Boost is the last thing you want to make. Even the simplest tuner should know its airflow, not boost you want. And the argument about a smaller blower being more responsive. Perhaps with a turbo yes. Im not convinced the same really is true with superchargers unless its a crazy extreme. Even when I used my blower on a standard 5.7, the gains everywhere were fantastic. It did feel great ( at the time )

It's basically down to rotor-to-case losses, only in traditional roots designs. The bigger the blower the more lobe-to-case area there is and the higher potential for air leakage past the lobes at lower RPMs. Hence a smaller blower spun faster in this operating range will be more effective and more efficient and move a greater volume of air. Just like in the turbo world, there is significant overlap in the air delivery capabilities of a particular series of supercharger unit, so ultimately what should influence your choice should be your individual requirement and engine primary operating load/speed range. Magnusson's basic point is correct, that on a street driven vehicle you should err on the small side for the best all round characteristics. If you're building a track-only screamer which will spend it's time on full chat then you size to the bigger end because you want minimal flat-out restriction and are not bothered about part-throttle or mid-range engine response. I would guess that the reason he even mentions boost is that unfortunately it's the only thing the layperson customer understands or is aware of. I also seem to remember Mike Kuhl making a similar statement in his tech articles, unfortunately the Kuhl Superchargers site is no more.

Obviously someone sellng superchargers, would like people to err on the side of caution, and opt for the smaller unit.
They know all too well...once you get a taste, you will want more. And then have to bo and buy the bigger unit.
Sound advice.....2 sales.
Has this happened to many people do you think ? Not a dig by the way. But it does happen, all over the world. If those people had went big to start with..at least they might have saved themselves some money in the long term.
Ive had one supercharger for about 5 years now....and its a very flexible unit. Its worked perfectly on a std 5.7, right through to what I have now.
With this instance, you cant compare turbos, as the two operate so differently. Turbos in some ways are more flexible...and in others less so.
