I tried fitting mine this morning (VXR8) with some difficulty; in fact I've given up for now to get advice from others here.

I managed to get a screwdriver into the release hole and loosen the top left corner. But something is holding back the opposite corner of the mirror. Heaved and wiggled (the mirror too) but no release. So I've left it for now as I was concerned about breaking something.

I would advise to put some tape to protect the plastic surround from the screwdriver.

I've got some photos as I thought they might help others. As it seems I'm the one who needs help I'll not post yet.
