Looks really good, and pleased that they help you engage with the car - exactly what I'm looking for.

Do you know what the 'GTO' mounts do for the seat belt buckles? I didn't realise I will have a problem there.

No idea to be honest, I assume there's somewhere as part of the mount that they bolt to, but couldn't say for sure.

To all, the fish have a tech2 don't they? To turn off airbag light....

But I though that you needed some form of load resistors in the plugs otherwise the airbag light would be constantly set off

Mmm, I'm unsure whether it's a resistance provided by the side airbag unit (=problem) or just to do with the pre tensioners as I seem to have read somewhere...

Nothing insurmountable hopefully...

You can't just turn that fault off. It's a latched fault so has to be fixed first or it will re-occur. As G said, you need some form of resistor with the correct value wiring in to the circuit (shout GaryH) to mimick the air bag signal, then you turn the light off with the tech 2.

I presume there's a plug/connector coming from the airbag in the seat, I should in theory be able to take a meter to that and find out the resistance?

Better get it fixed before the MOT: "The vehicle will fail the test if any airbag fitted as original equipment is obviously missing or defective."

Anyone know if there are any airbags in the seats of an 04 Monaro?

Yeah, that's understood - someone (one of the US chaps IIRC) had a theory that the system took inventory of its airbags when the battery was connected and monitored them from there, but clearly it is hard-coded.

I'm aware it's an MOT failure, I'm hoping the following 5 months or so should be enough time to sort something out... smile

'MaverickMan' (American guy who has these fitted in his GTO) was insistent that it's disconnecting the seat belt pre-tensioners that trip the light, I'll get in touch with him again for a bit more info.

As I wasn't on hand when the work was done, it's possible the battery wasn't disconnected early enough in the process, so the light was tripped because of the pre-tensioners, or it's equally possible that when it is re-connected the car does an inventory of the airbags and expects to find some in the seats = light on.

We shall see. Either way, I'll find a solution before MOT time thumbup

EDIT:

In the meantime I shall also try to avoid having any catastrophic accidents, as I presume the entire airbag system is now disabled.

The airbags normally work on seeing a resistance so the airbag ok signal can be sometimes replaced with a resistor of the correct value its possible that the pre tensions work on the same principle thats whay i've heard :-)

The pre-tensioners are still in there and fitted, so I'll head over to the fish and see if just clearing the code sorts it. I'll count myself lucky if it does, I suspect there'll be more work to come here.

My understanding is that even with the warning lit - it should still *try* to fire the airbags in the event of an accident. It should not just decide to skip deployment because it thinks there is an error.

I could be wrong though - that's mostly based on hearsay!

I definitely won't be keeping it to myself. Here's hoping it's a simple fix.

As much as I loved the original seats for their sheer comfort, I am so far pretty sold on the new ones. Time will tell after the honeymoon period I suppose, after a 200 mile drive I may not be so chipper!

Last night I just wanted to go down in the rain and stare at the car, hard to believe they're in there!
