cobra misano lux seats
Discussion
I'll do my best to get a good weight out it all, I assume the whole electrical gubbins, motors and frames are going to be pretty heavy, along with the actual sofa itself.
The cobras are manual recline, and a manual tilt forward bar that returns to the previous position. Manual sliders going under them too. Should be a lot quicker to get in the back!

Oooooohhhhh yes, they do look mighty sexy...
007's phone is now engaged .... Must be calling your supplier
You had a punt at the slam panel yet? Can't wait to get these babies fitted. Expect picture overload 007's phone is now engaged .... Must be calling your supplier
The custom made air intake cover has moved the Rad over flow bottle over... So slam panel doesn't
fit over the filler pipe at all....Need to strip the thing down and use a hammer
Everytime i get motivated the weather kicks me in the goooooolies.... it will be done soon though
Well here we go then, the big unveiling
Picked the car up tonight, atrocious weather, dark, chucking it down, generally evil, so apologies that the pics aren't going to blow your socks off...
Apparently the job was a bit of a brute, it was a case of doing some fabrication work to mount the new seats on the existing rails, as the seatbelt and all the motors were mounted on the old ones and welding the rails directly to the floor didn't seem like the best idea apparently.
So I've probably not shed as much weight as imagined, the old seats are definitely heavier, and a damn site more unwieldy, but as the motors are still there, some of that low COG weight is still there...
There's also the matter of the plastic shroud that he's cut back, I'll have to get something nice made up for this, probably CF, as it's just a hard edge at the moment, which you'll spot at the bottom of the last picture.
That does of course mean I still have electric adjustment, which is good for getting the perfect driving position, but still of course a bit slow for getting in the back! Still, that's not my problem.
Initial feelings from getting in the car were that I'm sitting on the floor which was exactly what I was after. Having then actually adjusted the seat a bit and played about so that I could actually reach the pedals etc. I'd say I'm probably only an inch or two lower than before.
The seats grip like a shark on a seal, and the whole car feels completely different. In one word, it feels firmer. Over the course of the drive home (MK rush hour et al) more seat tweaking was done, and I think having got home I'm just about in the right position now. It feels lower than when I first got in, and generally I feel more 'in' the car, instead of 'on' it, which the sofas sometimes made me feel.
As a result of the increased feeling of firmness, the car feels like it's shrunk around me a bit. It feels more planted, and generally pointier. Of course it handles exactly the same way in reality, but it feels better.
The seats are firm, no doubt about that. Compared to the original sofas, they're a wafer thin slither of comfort and a whole lot of grip. I like it, it's what I wanted, but I can imagine as I grow old with this car, I might want something a bit squidgier (I'm planning on keeping this thing as long as it's legal). Until then though, I love them.
They also look fantastic in there. They look like they fit with the car very well in my opinion, although of course the rears are a bit plain in comparison now, but that's hardly a problem. They are also of course incredibly thin, so there's now a ridiculous amount of leg room in the back.
The passenger can sit about 6 inches behind me, and there's still loads of leg room in the back, goes to show how huge these cars actually are inside.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, you're here for some pictures, so here goes.
A few of these were taken whilst waiting at a train crossing, others once I got home.
It's worth noting that the passenger seat is so far back, I don't think you could reach the dashboard if you were sitting in it!
Thin see? (ignore dusty finger prints on the headrest )
The hot seat
So pleased with them
And of course, the mandatory 007 money shot

No sleep for me tonight
Can't you leave the poor woman alone? Nice job on the seats. Shame they don't supply a mirror image version for the passenger side?
What did you do about the SRS light and warnings when you unplugged the air bags?
