I have been doing a lot of reading up on the LS1 AUS site and I have discoved that Holden have had a fix out for this since the start of the year. The fix involves the LS7 Clutch, coverplate and flywheel with a new pedal assy.

I phoned up vauxhall customer services.
Chris Walsh has moved departments aparently.
The Person I spoke to didn't seam to know much about faults with the VXR8. She took all the details and I gave her the GM Holden Tech line bulliten number and she said she would investigate it to see if Vauxhall has a tech bulliten out for it.

GMH Techline number TL1790 – 0908
The GMH line is that the cause is the self adjuster sticking down due to the adjuster tube serrations cocking slightly and sticking. Hence the pedal stays down. A big spring to return the pedal is NOT treating the cause. The cure putt forward by GMH so far for cars made after Sept07 is a new clutch assembly, and new pedal assembly to change the pivot ratio.

Hi Dazerc, glad to see you found the bulletin info, shame the lady at VX is unaware !!! Might be worth a PM to Dougie or Stu see if they can push a few buttons to help you get it sorted.

Hmm, is the set up the same as the Monaro? Where is the self adjuster, the thing integral with the pressure plate? Three on the LS1.

Hydraulics don't transmit an absolute position, unlike a cable. Just the stroke is transmitted.

This sounds more creditable than the boiling fluid explanation. As people report the issue generally only after hard use, is it precipitated by high temperatures?

Yeah I'll give them a ring tomorrow if they don't ring back and If no joy I'll email them and see if there is anything they can do. I don't want to take it to Picador and them to just put the same clutch in.

I don't know if the standard clutch part number has been superseaded by the LS7 clutch or not. But I'd have to have the new pedal assy too.

I'll let you know how it goes

Took my VXR8 to Picadors yesterday morning they phoned me up this afternoon to say its ready for collection.
They replaced the Clutch, flywheel and slave cyclinder.

I'll try and see if I can have a look at the old clutch to see if I can see anything wrong with it.

Not sure which clutch they put in but I suspect its the standard one as with the Holden fix they need a pedal assy too. I'll see if they will give me any paperwork with the part numbers of the replacements.

Why not just ask Picadors for details of what they fitted? They seem fairly on the ball.

Picked it up this afternoon.
They didn't fit a LS7 clutch just a standard VXR8 clutch kit, Flywheel and slave cylinder. I forgot to ask if I could see the old parts.
I managed to get the part numbers of the clutch kit and the slave cylinder. They had a price next to the clucth kit of £900 odd pounds can't remeber the slave cylinder but it was over £100. They are going to send me the paperwork when it is writen up for vauxhall warrenty.

The clutch feels grippy like a new clutch.
How many miles should I take it easy to let it bed in before seeing if it still sticks?

Spotted a Black Monaro VXR500 on the ramps anyones here?
