Got a call last night to say they were interested in buying the monaro.
Great I thought.
"yes we buy cars to appear in films and tv and would like yours......."
Okay...... BLAG SCAM RIPOFF ALERT activated.
Ran through the details of the car with him, and he said he'd call back in half an hour.....
"Yeah right" I thought. Told the mrs and settled down for the evening.
Ring Ring, Ring Ring.
"Yep everything's fine, I'll buy it!"
"okay........" BLAG SCAM RIPOFF ALERT activated into top mode now....
Reluctantly gave my address and was told a transporter would be here in the morning with a man who would buy it from me.
Yeah right!
".....so, what film do you want it for?"
"Johnny English II, they wanted a mustang, but the LHD got in the way of the machine gun out the window, so a monaro fits the bill, right colour, nostrils, and lots of V8 noise, you know something a bit "quirky""
Yeah right.
"well okay, see you in the morning."

Cutting a now long story short. They did turn up, and they did buy it. Gave the vehicle the once over, by that I mean about one second. I started it and he said "fine!".

So, the Ro's gone to a different place to lead an interesting life, albeit probably shortened by 20 years or so , however if it does make the cut, I'll have a nice reminder on film!

Change in career and the Mrs' company car meant it was not getting used. I will be back in the fold in 18 months though, when the Co. car expires, so will be on the look out for an evoke R8 for my new born due in september.

Will pop in from time to time, but all I can say is, what a great forum, and a great bunch of guys and gals. Met loads of really genuine Holden/HSV lovers and had some great times and fantastic memories at Shakies, TR and the other meets. thumbupdriving

Some pics from today...

Notice my comforting posture on this next one as he explains "your car may not last that long, we got through 5 MG TF's on one day......" AAARRGGGHHHH!

Well if it makes the cut, the rarest colour Monaro CV8, should become the collectors choice.

Really sorry to see her go. Keep in touch.

Thanks for all the kind words. I'd come to terms with selling up a while ago, so not too brutal today to see it go. Still tugs on your heart strings though to see it disappear on the back of a low loader.... weeping

Think tomorrow I'll realise just what I've done, maybe I'll regret it, maybe not, but either way, its too late now!

Here's to the future and the fun in searching for a replacement starting this time next year!

John

PS LOVE YOU TOO, COL! hehe

Sorry to see you've sold-up. Odyssey is a great colour. Which reminds me, I met you for the first time at the Rockingham Touring Car event the other year. I think you'd not long had the car.

Yes! Remember it well, it was that meet/event which MADE me buy a Wortec system. That "other year" was early 2007! Doesn't time fly? You'd just had your Diff changed iirc?
Good times...

Yep, you're right, '07.
I got the Wortec put on by Greens before it was even registered. The lower diff was another great mod.
