I think that your age has quite a bearing on this though. For us that are closer to being SAGA-louts, the difference in premium probably would warrant making the telephone calls. wink

He also accepted that i could claim again nxt year if the premium takes a signifiant increase (quite what that means i will find out nxt year)

So it pays to be a pain in the arse!

If you have been charged extra premiums due to a non fault claim get on the phone to the at-fault company and calmly (it was very hard not to swear) ask for your losses to be covered.

Well done liam1986. You've inspired me to pursue this, although i a going to wait until my car is repaired and I have confirmation that the claim has been settled by the other party in full.

Admiral have loaded my renewal premium by a whopping 33%!!

I have several avenues - seek recompense for my out-of-pocket expenses from:

the third party insurers (ING); Admiral, Admirals claim handling company (Albany); the ABI; the Ombudsman or finally an action directly against the driver!

Its not just the money - it is the whole principle of this absurd policy adopted by the insurance companies.

That is common practice, while a claim is outstanding. When the claim is settled in your favour, they refund the difference.

yeah. once have recieved in wrting that ING have accepted third party liablaily, add the increase in insurance premiums to the losses you have and will suffer as a direct result of the acciedent.
They will come up with the line "its not an insursed loss" but stay calm and tell them it IS a loss you have/will suffer soley due to the acciednet that they are insuring the at-fault driver for any third party losses.

Don;t let these ing insurance companies get away with it any more!!!!
