I'm going through the insurance renewal too. Old bloke - Esure renewal at £523, up by ~12% on last year. Just spent ages on various web sites , including Esures and none can compete. Surprising that. Mind you a few have got to call back.

I had the same thing with More>than ... 1 years excellent cover at a competitive price then a letter to say they would not cover my car. Shopped around and had a slightly better quote from Adrian Flux but Im sure it will be someone else at the next renewal unless Flux give me a very good renewal figure

Seeing this thread reminded me my insurance is due next month so went through the usual comparison sites. Now have 7 years NCB and a 6 year old claim has dropped off so whereas last year I paid nearly £700 with esure (and £750 excess) my best quote is under £400 with 1st Central (and only £250 excess). Not forgetting £25 Quidco cashback! Well happy. Looking forward to seeing what esure quote for renewal!!

just be carfull about cheap quotes and cheap policys as when and i hope it doesn't happen that you are covered for everything there is nothing worse then haveing someone hitting you car (not your thought) and you end up having to chase them up for months to get your car fixed also as i've found if someone hits your car your car is repaired who componsts you for the 30-40% loss in value of your car becouse its on the register as a cat c/d claim?

The car only becomes a cat c/d if the insurance company decide it is not financially viable to repair it and sell it off for salvage. The car is then registered with HPI as a write off but can be repaired and put back on the road subject to a VIC test which is a strict MOT to best of my knowledge. It is then illegal to sell such a vehicle without disclosing to the purchaser that it has been subject to such repairs.

If someone hits your car it is about that persons insurance not yours, even if you have 3rd party it is still about that persons insurance?
