Well that's what my oil sensor thought this afternoon. Funny 'cos the air temperature's 17.

Getting well fed up of dodgy oil readings and reading that go in reverse once they reach 60.

Also fed up of these things happening just after a service and allegedly passing the MoT (just like the reverse lamp that now only comes on if you hold the stick back) so I'll have to argue the toss with the garage I use.

It is not hard to change the sensor. Problem solved.

The reverse light switch can be an awkward bugger to get right, then you need to lock down the gearstick tightly with the grub screw which you can't get much turnage/purchase on with the right allen key. Give them another go.

Just had the same with mine, swapped it in 15mins, just jack up front RHS till its high enough to crawl underneath on your back (support chassis with axle stand!) look up to RHS of oil tank and its an easy spot. A 14mm AF open end spanner is the best bet, unclip the connector and undoo the sensor, you might loose a little oil. screw new in sensor dont forget sealing washer) reconnect sensor and drop car of axle stand. test..
mine now shows same temp as water when cold sorted.
There was one on ebay but I got mine from HHC and cost around £40quid.

I wouldn't mind if it was an old sensor - only replaced 12 months ago. Grrrrr!

Mine failed within the year, so it was changed under warrenty. The originals are hard to get I believe but there are lots of cheap copies about that fail quickly, I believe Dom at Power has got some better quality ones now.

Well showing air temp 20 and oil 11 on removal. Air temp 20 and oil 11 with new one so probably not the sensor but miscalibrated processor as this implies same resistance?

Problem solved for anyone else suffering this. Seems to be related to using the wired in Accumate for more than a week.

If the car's been laid up for a while then taking it off charge for a week enables the sensor to work properly.

All earths were checked last year so not one of those.
