Still, better to enjoy them than becoming obsessed about keeping the mileage low to make a few grand!
Oh, absolutely. That's why I don't frett about the mileage on mine. I was just agreeing with the statement that prices aren't likely to rise across the board. I think we will see a gap widening between the garage queens and the cars that are actually driven.

I agree. I can't see mine going up that high despite the Racing Green engine, mainly due to the fact that it is not kept in concourse condition (very far from it in fact) and is considered high mileage at 40,000 miles.

I can see pristine, perfect, concourse examples with stupidly low mileage going for silly money though.
Yes and no. I think you're right, but I also think if the prices for very good examples go sky-high, even the less... err... pristine examples will still benefit
with a 5k or so raise. You can see that just in the last 2 years.

2 years ago - good and middle-good examples were 34-37k, now they are 45+

Most people have the middle-good examples.

Err... Well, I was told by a dealer that they expected them to hit 60k end of year. They have more than enough people after them
I think we'll see them go that high, agreed, but I dont think the whole market will shift up by £10k - £15k. I think it'll only be the c. 10 - 15 really good examples, low mileage and mint, which will go up and up for people who want to keep them as investments...
so what would a higher mileage Sag that has had no expense spared that's also just had a full respray and a 4.5 Supersport upgrade with 5 year warranty be worth?

I'd say it would be worth much more than the low mileage standard Cars that sell for £50k+

If they knew what the were doing - yes and buying for use. If they were buying for investment, then low mileage example might command more money. Who knows...

You know it is the better bet, I know it is the better bet, but investors are obsessed with mileage. It's crazy but true.

The quilting looks great but i'm sure comes at great expense. Had a quote locally for re-doing the whole interior including dash, seats and carpets, etc and was asking for £10k! Sounds a bit steep to me so i will stick with how Saggy came from the factory.

WHAT £10k that's mental, you will be able to get a full retrim for a quarter of that!

In another year or two and I think my car will be back to the original purchase price. Never thought a TVR would be a good investment as well as a great drive when I bought it! biggrin

Agree with the re-fit price, mine done with full leather, including full roof retrim and carpeted floor and boot area, for less than 3k with lots of minor finishing off of panels before covering. Included the essential removal and refit of the windscreen to do the dash properly.

Its a 350 but its the same interior! 10k is remarkable, quilted or not!

I've emailed Str8six asking for a quote on seat and door inserts but they have not got back to me yet

We'll share the info then. I must admit however, I wasn't too keen on the OTT job done on the example car, not too sure about the seats either, but definately worth doing the door inserts. If those work well, I might do the seats after, although I have a few little projects to look at before that on another car.

Difficult time as very good original no story cars are few and far between.
PH owners talking up prices won't make any difference to prices paid.
I'm happy to pay top money for a top original car, but won't pay top money for something that shines on the surface but is poor in the areas that are expensive to restore ....

Anyone with a really mint car that is happy to accept 45k please em me, but don't waste our time badly describing a very average car as anything else.

Not sure there is such a thing as an average car any more, especially in the engine dept. We think there are less than 120 cars left now. And most have had engine rebuilds I would imagine. And with different companies offering different rebuilds to different specs, at what point do you throw up your hands and concede you don't have enough data to define "average"?

Jon,
Engines are not where I was going. Chassis, salt damage, coating break down - the bits you can't see easily.

Peter, any chance of telling us who did that, just for future reference

John, just out of interest when we exchanged mails just before I bought my Sag a year ago you said you were looking for a minter then. Have you been actively looking and still not found a one to your standards?

Are you sure that most have had rebuilds, i thought these new engines were o.k.
