so what would a higher mileage Sag that has had no expense spared that's also just had a full respray and a 4.5 Supersport upgrade with 5 year warranty be worth?

I'd say it would be worth much more than the low mileage standard Cars that sell for £50k+
You know it is the better bet, I know it is the better bet, but investors are obsessed with mileage. It's crazy but true.
I would rather pay £35/40k for a mechanical sound Sag thats been used rather than £50k+ for one that's been standing around for months on end,

then you still have £15k in your pocket for a rebuild/upgrade and a full respray, but more importantly you have more fun using it without worrying about stone chips, mileage.

Plus IMHO after the engine upgrade/warranty/new paint job the car would be worth £60k +

Agree with the re-fit price, mine done with full leather, including full roof retrim and carpeted floor and boot area, for less than 3k with lots of minor finishing off of panels before covering. Included the essential removal and refit of the windscreen to do the dash properly.

Its a 350 but its the same interior! 10k is remarkable, quilted or not!
Peter, any chance of telling us who did that, just for future reference

Difficult time as very good original no story cars are few and far between.
PH owners talking up prices won't make any difference to prices paid.
I'm happy to pay top money for a top original car, but won't pay top money for something that shines on the surface but is poor in the areas that are expensive to restore ....

Anyone with a really mint car that is happy to accept 45k please em me, but don't waste our time badly describing a very average car as anything else.
John, just out of interest when we exchanged mails just before I bought my Sag a year ago you said you were looking for a minter then. Have you been actively looking and still not found a one to your standards?
Not actively, but everything I have looked at is either not good enough or too expensive to do a body off chassis rebuild. frown

Are you sure that most have had rebuilds, i thought these new engines were o.k.
mine is still going strong and 50k+, just can't stop driving it, maybe that's the trick to preventing rebuilds wink

I think it's more luck than anything. I'm one of the most mechanically sympathetic drivers you could meet but I still had engine problems.
The first was detonation on #6 cylinder, which is a known problem. The second was a valve seat failure which is down to shoddy manufacturing.

this one was in fantastic condition when I was last at TrackVRoad before it sold not long ago, it's now back up for sale though i very much doubt they will drop the price,

Good luck finding a mint one with low miles for £45k wink

Been and looked at it, Craig and Ian helped me have a good look at it, but.. doesn't fit the bill. frown

I'll find one, no rush. If it's a bit more, I'll pay more, but it must be very very good. Doesn't need to be at a dealer so the price becomes a little more realistic perhaps?

Yes it was D&C Trim who did the trim on that car. The quilting looks a lot better in the flesh than it does in pictures I have to say. Very impressive, they're getting buiser and busier now.

yes they did say you had been to look at one, didn't know it was this one, were you not keen on the colour/interior or was it something else?

maybe that sticker on it's rear hehe

I know they sold the last 2 Sags at full price.

£640 for seats and doors, £440 seats only although that is the entire back of the seat and not just the bottom half.

So around £200 for the door panels to be 'quilted'. Not bad.

I dont disagree with the sentiment, but when was the last time a Sag was under £40k? The only ones I remember in the last 3 months have been Cat Ds, or had huge mileages.

A few seem to crop up for 38k now and then but they seem to get bought and sold by dealers for over 40k a few months later. It seems that most dealers have people queing up for these cars. Which is a great sign. Its a cult car already and mondern day classic. I'm supprised Jay Leno has not got one! Many sags are getting into to owners hands who are not going to sell them anywhere in the near future so its going to be hard to find any up forsale in a few years regaurdless of condition.

The Grey beast was my old car.. Sadly I had to let her go about 2 years ago due to financial reasons, Unbelievably the value of them has now gone through the roof, Im intrigued to know why it didn't fit the bill for you though as it was a mint fabulous condition car when I had it, and the guy I sold it to (Hi Allan your probably following this thread also) was even more fanatical about maintaining/cleaning it than me and thats saying something.
Wish I could afford to buy it back.

TVRs always move more slowly at this time of year. What depresses me is that when they get bought by collectors or people looking to make a profit you then lose them from the roads. TVRs brighten up our dull roads.

Not sure it works like that, they would do my doors with the 'spare' leather that they didn't use on the seats, therefore, would have to buy specific leather to do just your doors. Give them a ring.
