Are they low geared or can you cruise at 80mph without the engine screaming .

Is there much difference between the 2002 cars next to the later models and what are the things to look at other than the engine ?

Nice colour. smile

80mph is about 3/3500rpm. Screaming is from 6000 up to 8000.

I have driven 70000+ miles including the lengths of France, Germany and Italy so I think it is perfectly capable of 80mph cruising. It is not for everyone though and I'm sure there are better cars for that sort of thing. But you have to do the boring bits to get to the Alps. hehe

Daz, if you want a change, go for it but there isn't anything fundamentally wrong with your car.

Change the springs for standard + 20% about 330/400, (Derek might swap you a set) and have a proper set up. That will give a great complient ride.

You have a stonking motor in your car capable of cruising all day at 1500 RPM or frightening your pants off at speed so why change?

I weas thinking 450/375 but I have been told it`s not a simple spring swop ,the valving needs changing to suit the spring .

Standard is 275/325 iirc, so what you have is way to firm!

Give up lads. You've not got a clue what you're doing with those old old things... just bite the bullet and get a T car bought (not a Tuscan ....)
