Actually Don, with respect to an owner, I'd argue that it is ONLY the looks that make a Sag so special.
When it's on a kids bedroom wall poster he's not admiring the bilstiens, the slightly wider track or the different suspension pick up points. Each of which are small modifications which can be easily replicated by lots of companies in the UK.
The interior is (seat dependant) identical to the t-350 except for driver side headroom is it not?
Has anyone ever bought a Sag primarily because it rides slightly better than a standard T-car? Especially when it's an extra 30 grand!
And the noise from the exhausts, is it really very different to any other SP6, and can they not be made to sound the same or even better?

Hi Darren,

Truely stunning cars.... very track specific of course those shown in the GTF gallery, and if funds permitted, I'd be putting a deposit down today !!

Are you implying those body panels etc. have been taken by moulds off existing Sag bodies, rather than being modified original bodies from what was left at the factory when TVR went bump ?? I thought they were real TVR remnants finished and modified/built for racing ??

I bet the cost to produce one of those, even from a donor car, would be "interesting"...

Happy New Year - see you at DTEC

BTW, what wheels are these ???

Out of interest has anyone put a Sagaris body on a T350?

I guess that the Plasticman has come closest.

If you did it the wheels would look odd sitting a long way inside the wheel arches so you'd fit the Sag suspension. Your T350c/t may already have a Sag spec engine and brakes. Then it would be a Sag (replica?)

I bought mine for the whole car not for a slightly better ride but it wasn't 30 grand extra at the time, mind you I don't think they are 30 grand extra to a comparable T car now.

As for the noise I wish I could get it to sound like a T350 with the Power Sports exhaust, although it is fun trying the different options.

As an owner of both the 350 and sag I can say its not just looks, the car is much more capable handling wise, Handling being the reason I sold the 350, even after trying nitrons.

The build quality is also night and day in my experience, that is more car specific than model specific though.

The wheels on the black car above are compomotive MO6's, nice strong and well priced.

Hi Mike,
The bodies on the GTF cars are taken from a mould, which in itself was made from a new and modified ex works Sagaris body shell.

Although IIRC the black car (the first one) uses a factory shell, subsequently modified.
The upshot being, that these race car shells are easily replaced/repaired, in fact GTF have full shells in stock (very handy for a race car application hehe )

The red/black GTF cars were built from Tuscan Challenge cars , although these evolved into specially built new chassis as it became less viable and rather undesirable to dismantle increasingly rare Challenge cars (quite rightly IMO smile ).

The Wheels are Compomotive MO ,also used on Tuscans and a few other TVR race/road cars cars, and seem to have established themselves as a popular choice for track use.

HTH

Happy New Year , and i'll see you at the circuit biggrin

I am planning a trip to see the progress in person as soon as I have the green light from the builder.I have been sent some pictures of the body modifications..which I personally like.
The body has been widened front and rear without hvaing blisters or flares added to the sides...
Seems pretty subtle but has added a little over 4 inches front and rear to the overall width of the body.

I am sworn to secrecy with the pictures but as soon as I have permission to post them I most certainly will.

It seems to me that the general view is that £17k just will not do it.
To do a decent imitation of a Sag the nearest engineering comparison would be Ultima. To the best of my knowledge there are no 'Ultima' type kits around at Caterham money which is what a £17k target would require.

Sound a bit like the car we have built only ours is about 6" wider at the rear and 4" at the front?

CWIN,
Thats a great looking machine....congratulations, its very cohesive looking and not at all over the top....which gets me more excited about the one I am keen on.
Interestingly the pictures I have are also of a green bodyshell but its the factory pearl lime green base colour.

Did you maintain the stock wheelbase ?
