Okay thanks for the feedback
The plant fitters at work are recommending an epoxy glue rather than welding, apparently it works up to 350 degrees.
I used epoxy on mine about 3 years ago and its still attached. 'Double bubble' 2 part stuff mix it and it sets in about 20 mins. Ping me your address I will send you some. It just sits in the tank when it falls off so you have to fish it out.The plant fitters at work are recommending an epoxy glue rather than welding, apparently it works up to 350 degrees.

The one on my Tamora broke like that too before I had it. It was repaired not very nicely by drilling a hole through the cap and using a screw into the hollow centre of the dip stick.
The one on my Sag broke the other week so I'll be interested to see how you fix yours.
Tried epoxy which usually works when the domed part comes away from the cap but it failed again very quickly.
What's the epoxy supposed to bind too ? All the surfaces are very smooth.

I'd be using JB Weld. Have used it on engine blocks (when over-zealously grinding from the inside out) and to repair a cracked ally sump on an old diesel e-class, which was weeping. Clean surfaces with brake cleaner, rough 'em a bit with sand paper or emery then mix and apply Can't see it being any different to 'bond' your pieces of dipstick back together. and it's what I'd use if mine failed.

I've used JB Weld and it's pretty good, also used Steel Putty and is also pretty good.
Bob I have both somewhere if you want to try them, or I can have a look at another solution for you.
Thanks Kev, I'll let you know how i go on this week, I broke it whilst polishing the top of the cap. Bob I have both somewhere if you want to try them, or I can have a look at another solution for you.

That looks like a Tuscan dip stick as they are longer than the other T-carsGassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
