Yes it looks awful, I asked the guy working on it loads of questions I bet he thought, just leave me alone and let me get on with it, I know how he feels as I have worked on loads of domestic customers roofs and they drive you mad, I,am not going to go there anymore until I pick it up

Any pics of the car all done?

Without opening a can of worms, this wouldn't be a category C or D with it being repaired?

A cat C or D means that the insurance company will not pay for the repairs as they deem it too expensive against the value of the car, plus it will be on the log book as a cat C or D and it is illegal to sell a cat C or D without putting that it is a cat C or D, that's how some foreign companies get round repairing a car as they don't have to inform the buyer so be aware of buying from foreign companies

Car is all fixed and looking great, plus I have spent thousands on it far too much to put on here, it now has a Powers 4.5 as well and now black wheels

Enjoy

Brilliant, lovely looking car.

Mine is a Cat D and there is nothing on the log book. Ive had a couple and tehres never been anything on the log book so its not a requirement.

Reason I ask is that mine was damaged far less and was written off as Cat D.

Im going to do an Autolign inspection to remove it from the register, not that I really car as its a keeper anyway and I plan on a 4.5 rebuild!

Only Cat C are subject to a DVLA-VOSA VIC test and then recorded on the V5. Cat D is not shown and the car just has to pass its MOT.

Willfin - Your car might have been written off for associated repair costs, such as a like for like hire car if the accident was non-owner fault.
An Autolign inspection will remove your "Cat D" from the HPI report, but then replace it with "Condition Inspected". Experian will probably continue to show the car as Cat D. So I'd put the money towards the 4.5 rebuild?

It's unfortunately a lottery. I had a very similar accident to Gary back in 2013, front 3/4 and a rear wing with zero chassis damage yet mine was a straight insurance repair so not on any register. The thing that kills these cars is labour, a normal car would have a new wing, bumper etc bolted on and pretty much job done. The sheer amount of work needed on these to properly graft new panels is amazing hence the labour costs alone will often write an otherwise healthy car off.
