ok, I know we are supposed to not listen to the radio whilst driving a TVR, however I want to improve the quality of the reception, so what have any of you guys done?
I don't want to have to buy more cd`s , I just want to be able to have the radio on and not listen to someone singing or talking whilst eating a bag of bloody crispsheheand then loosing the signal completely after 10 miles

are there any super glove box type aerial thingies on the market??

I have a DAB fitted with a bee sting antenna. Quality sound when required for those long motorway miles.

Yep similar problem and the "will you slow down!" message drowns out the odd bid of radio that does get through.

Would love to improve without drilling holes. Thinking the aerial is in the heated rear screen?

well if it is then that explains things a bit, the connectors have come away from the rear screen, need some more conductive glue to stick them on withbanghead

Happy to be corrected but I thought it was just coiled in the passenger side front wing?

It is but once it in it's there its there to stay, I guess bits of the car were added round it. When the rivet on the bracket fails, the tapping you hear is the aerial tapping inside the wing.

Fiddly Job, but have a look in the front wing, i found 5 meters too long cable and poor connection from the antenna cable connection to the cable which is going to passenger room.
I cutted all cable out which was too long and made a good connection between this cables, now all fine.
If signal is poor a amplifier will not work well, is not the best solution!

How is access gained to the front wing? I assume its the moveable section on top of the left wing to the rear under the bonnet?

Clive you have an iPhone or equivelant don't you?
Install the tunein Internet radio app, Bluetooth your phone to your stereo and you've got digital quality radio!
Wish I'd discovered this ages ago, been through 3 stereos, DAB and powered amps.
Streaming is great as it'll buffer we'll in advance, so much so that I didn't lose any signal from Yeovil to London .

No, remove the lamp access panel in the wing and reach up into the wing. It's on the pop rivet bracket just off centre about 6" back along the wing

this sounds daft and goes against a few theories on here, but super glued the connectors back on heated windscreen and radio reception back to normal. confused .com but it works so I`ll leave it alone for now.

thanks for all your repliesthumbup

I have an annoying rattle/tap that occurs sometimes from the passenger side, do you reckon this aerial tap is common?

100% yes, took me months to work out what it was. The Aerial is about a meter long (it's one of those extendable metal things) reach under the ps wheel arch, find the pop rivet head and wiggle it you can make the tappy sound - it's the tip of the aerial inside the wing!
