I know it is a long shot but worth asking in case someone says 'I had that and it was.....'

Every now and then I hear a dull metalic clonk - loud enough to hear clearly over my ACT exhaust. The noise is the same irrespective of enging revs or road speed. Possibly most common at low speeds. I thought engine mounts / exhaust ???? but I can't find anything that moves enough for me to believe it could make this noise.

I think we can discount diff - the noise doesn't seem to be load or cornering dependant.
Fuel tank? Please expand - could the tank be moving?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

A known fault is for the fuel tank to be rubbing on the chassis, it can wear through (the tank, not the chassis). I had a mod done at Track v Road to stop the rubbing. Unsure whether it can get to the point of knocking against the chassis though

Petrol is pumped to the engine creating a slight vacumn in the tank. You can replicate the clonk by slapping the tank with your hand?

Does it happen on a smooth road or when going over bumps? If the latter, could be exhaust system hitting body work. I re-adjusted my system on my T350 to stop this happening

I heard this EXACT clonk on mine at very low speed a few days before the clutch master slave popped a hydraulic release bearing. I didn't think the clonk was related to the master slave going but i'm as a precaution i'm having all aspects of the car thoroughly looked at while I await a new clutch to arrive from the UK since the old one was 90% worn (26,500 miles completed on the original clutch).

I'll let you know the outcome...

I have been out of the country a couple of weeks but, if the storms allow, I will have a good look this weekend.
