Been looking at the Act Carbon Air Box as my standard one seems to have deformed a little at the rear (close to the bulkhead) for some reason,

I did a little search and found that there was a company called Concept Performance & Kit and Car Classics that were looking to do an alternative Carbon Air Box for a bit less money, but their website no longer exists.

Does any know if this ever happened or is Act the only option / price ?

No, their (Concepts) website does not exist yet as Brendan is overwhelmed with work
(mostly Sagaris(s) - plural) and is not looking to take any more on atm, until he
has cleared his books a bit. biggrin

Thus website is on hold until early next year.

If you chat with Martin @ Bespoke, they have a sample of the Carbon airbox for showing
and can order it/fit it (or so I believe).

I have a few pics of their (early/prototype) designs & what is being fitted to my car, but
the one on my car will be slightly customised so might not be fully relevant.

The ACT box is a little cheaper than it used to be now I am guessing this is because its supplied un-lacquered?

I'm having one of these in the new year, the air is fed from two directions, you can choose different hose lengths for more BHP or torque, plus nice touches such as stainless latches, I'm sure there's more, but I'll let Brendan tell you more when he has time shout

Once I get the car back or Brendan says he's finished all the spit and polish on the air box and it is in its final form, then I'll post pics of the final item.

Else pop over to Bespoke in Ware. Martin has a working model from Brendan as a demonstrator (at least he did a few months ago).

Next time you buy all the parts, dyno time, fitting mechanic hour rates and cars to compare them out in, Steve, be sure to write the analysis down thumbup

Opps, forgot to say.

For those wanting pics of work in progress on those airboxes, please
IM me your email separately and I'll send you some links.

I'm not posting them on the forum until fully completed and been cleared
to post them to the world.

Not being overly cloak and dagger, just protecting a few IP issues until
everything is done and cleared for full posting.

Thanks

Brendan at Concept Performance Ltd says that the first production version of the box has been finished. They have proper latching stainless catches, twin entry air feeds, available in various inlet length options depending on the use you put the car to. They're lacquered for a nice surface finish and the lacquer can be tinted to match your car colour if required. They have silicon pipes for an air-tight seal onto the inlet spigots and have been designed to offer something over and above the std tvr offering. Currently all production is fulfilling pre-orders so expect a proper release date when new customer offerings are available

^^ As that man said biggrin

Not sure if mine is the first production one or that's in John's car, but after speaking with Brendan, he's tweaking the design on mine anyway, but they do look very nice.

Very strange, but I just called Martin at Bespoke performance and he siad they have not made a carbon airbox and are not developing one?

He said the only ones they have fitted were the ACT ones ?
