[quote=chris watton]Before I bought my second Tamora, I was convinced that simply owning it was enough to sate my appetite. I had planned from the start to have a complete interior re-trim, complete with decent ICE and sat nav, and the icing on the cake would be the 4.3 upgrade and Nitrons. This, I thought would make it the perfect Tamora for me.

However, the more I think about the upgrades, the more I want, and it's very difficult to be reasonable with myself once I get an idea in my head.

Not only do I now want the 4.3, but I also want a CR box and new LSD to go with it - then I spotted you could buy carbon propshafts, too! I know I don't 'need' one, but I do 'want' one - not only that, I 'want' the Sag/Tuscan S front brake upgrade - and the ACT carbon airbox for when the engine is upgraded, and possibly the cam cover changed, too - it's never ending!

Anyone else the same, or is it just me....?

I am stone cold sure that if every single item was changed/upgraded, there would still be something else you would want to tinker with....

(ETA - not saying I can afford it all, just more about the mentality of never being 100% happy and wanting more, no matter how much one spends...)

Please stop putting this type of thread up its driving me mad rolleyes , I got a T350 in June and if you have read my threads you would know that I had a little accident and it has been repaired and had a complete re-spray and below a list of things done to it eek

steering rack refurbed
new ali rad
new air con rad
new dics
Gaz Monotubes, which are very good, got Nitrons on Cerb
wheels refurbed
partial interior re-trim
alpine stereo with no CD that plays your music via iphone and 4 way speaker system
new spark plugs, leads and coil packs
new clutch and slave cylinder
new brake master cylinder
new brake servo

I,am now looking at the following

4.5 from Dom
while engine out
chasis cleaned and painted
ACT silicone hoses
ACT air box
ACT stainless steel water pipe
if I cannot get an ali washer bottle getting that moved to under the bonnet
getting a plug fitted under the bonnet to plug trickle charger in
carbon cam cover

now you lot are going on about dics upgrade and diffs, what time does the pub open I need a drink

Go as low as you can, 3.08 I think is where you can get to. What is in it now?
Has the standard 3.45 (think that’s the ratio). Getting it refurbished and keep as is then see how I get on with that and the 19” wheels….or may hold fire on the 19” and keep them in the garage or sell. If for some reason I don’t like the way it performs then will think of changing diff wheel combo at a later date.

Starting to sound sensible……influenced by this thread. smile

Try the car as is for a while, I used mine to go to Spain on the old diff ratio but the fuel economy and high revs meant i changed it as soon as I got back.

I really would hold fire on the 19's, some prefer the looks but they will not drive as well especially with your new engine, 17's might be better but I will not compromise on the looks that much. I will be ordering new wheels soon 18's again with a offset that should help with some of the handling issues.

I can remember looking under your car, I think I remember it being on old shocks? If it is I would recommend that being your next change.

I work with carbon composite materials in the aircraft industry, a carbon lay up for a prop would be very susceptible to impact damage not ideal would look nice!

We all have a the boy racer jean still, just we are grown up got a car with massive grunt but still like to tinker, and we love TVR's because of the noise they make, just like when we were kids, and the fact we can do the work are selves.

My wish list due to a better payed job now is:

Carbon air box
Alloy Rad
Ceramic coated exhaust
Stainless / Silicon hoses (Blue)
Powder coat the power steering motor bracket white.

Will have to take it one step at a time, due to having a little lad I do struggle to get out in the car may be I should just sell and get a focus RS??? Who knows.

I'll finish once my project folder is empty or I get bored of the Sag or get more involved on another project car that is as entertaining as the Sag to work on.

I used the carbon propshaft in the theme of 'wants' because it's a perfect illustration of wanting what you didn't even know existed for the car, or need (and I have only come across them when upgrading my cars in Gran Turismo..)

Will give it a miss. Now Carbon intake yes please ACT have cornered the market and they look good. Just made my self a Kevlar Mix (Yellow Cross lay) rear defuser used the old one as a template extended it under the back with a NASA duct to cool the back box area, got rid of the rusty heat sheald and replaced with part of a Rolls Royce aero engine Refrasal (Tradname) Blanket used on the outer casings cut down it's Titanium. looks good! plus work payed will get pics on.

I think that upgrading the car is a more exciting experience than actually buying it in the first place. Part of that is the fact that, not only are you making it better than standard, but you're making it you're own, and it becomes very personal to you. IMOHO anyway...

After 11 years my paint work is a little weathered and my leather worn with spiders that need a referb but she has Power 4.3 and Nitrons and goes like the wind so I like to drive! Upgrades are not needed and a less than perfect car wants to be pushed hard. She's not a princess or a beauty queen but I love her.

Yes I've been debating one of these since Steve showed me one at Chatsworth last year, I'm not convinced it does look better than the ali one! I need to have a good snoop round other cars at Burghley, the only danger with doing this is spotting something else I want!!
