Will sags hit 60k this year?
Discussion
Guys,
Haven't a clue if the marker was applied.
I submitted the write off proforma to the DVLA, transferred my private plate onto retention and sent all the ownership docs to the insurance company, which was Allianz Cornhill.
I know it was sold via Blue circle, who deal in this type of insurance salvage, Andy from Surface and Design confirmed this, when I bumped into him at the launch of the Sagaris 3, (S&D priced the repair for the insurance quote?)

I am guessing that this Sag fits into the total loss category, as I was paid out in full, £42,000, However if I had pushed at the time for it to be rebuilt, I could still theoretically own it and be driving around with it repaired and nobody would be any the wiser?
The cost of the repair quote from S&D was £14.5k ish.

Been reading this thread with interest!
ginner: Did they offer you the opportunity to buy it back after the accident? And did they give you anything in writing about it's category?
Odd that those repair figures around 14.5k vs the payout of £42k wouldn't normally result in a cat D write off so i'm wondering if the insurance gave it a cat X, which allows for a full payout but without the "salvage" needing to be recorded? They do occasionally do this when they simply want to choose not to do the repair in case the estimate/costs increase as the repair goes on. (They did it on my old pug205!)
My recent insurance claim for bodywork came to £11k, and they just repaired it with no category, and the car was worth £26k so it would seem odd that yours would have been written off.
Mccrae: Did you repair the car yourself? Did it need any inspection etc in order to get the V5? And to ask an upfront question: Did the buyer know it had been repaired previously? If it's not on the HPI then my understanding is there's no obligation to tell anyone, but in my own experience, I've actually ended up with a better car now that we had some bodywork damage and it's been repaired to a high standard and has a new paint job!
Hopefully either way, the new owner has a decent car, with a decent engine, and so long as the original repairs were done to a good standard then I don't think they paid too much if it went for less than £50k anyway.
On a separate note: I really really really want the Grey Sag at Hexham!!!
Edited to add: Didn't want to sound like some jumped up policeman asking loads of questions by the way... just genuinely interested!

As some know, I wrote off my first Sag, #141 in the register (can't post new one as wiki limit exceeded), last year and I'd be pretty upset if I ever saw that appear again, so understand the concerns of the owner when this one was written off. I did insist on documention confirming the write-off on mine.
Sounds like this car is now a good-un though with the upgrades, whatever happened in the past. But it is still good to have the full history as when the new owner sells I'm sure questions will be asked again. On another TVR I submitted a V888, 'Request by an individual for information about a vehicle' to the DVLA which, assuming they release the information, gives you all they have recorded.

ginner - Have you put your private plate onto another car; and if so have you checked to make sure the new car is showing HPI clear?
James , I would have hoped the DVLA use the V5C (and therefore chassis number) as the basis for recording the information , but nothing would suprise me with a government organisation. I am beginning to have doubts about insurance assessors, these stories about write-offs amaze me. Cars being written off as irrepairable and then re-classified, £42k being paid out on a £14.5k repair. No wonder insurance is so high.
PS I hope the new owner of T44SCL gets the V5C corrected when its taxed since it still appears to be a 4 litre and not a 4.5 and therefore technically illegal .

Because some one keeps writing on that is a right off !!! This car although was damaged the insurance did not classify as a right off or total loss this have been verified by dvla and sore previous owners should not keep sticking there nose when the hpi report has been post on this forum

It does look like Sagaris prices have slowed down?

10 cars for sale. 2 below 50K, one is registered cat C.Discuss
Not sure you can judge if the cars that are for sale are priced high end or low end without seeing their condition?
Have they slowed - yes if the cars for sale are mint, no if they are average (suspect that with one or two exceptions, average is what they will be...)

I thought about it ( in fact made an offer) , but the colour put me off ... neither orange or red , and the interior is a bit like a tarts boudoir , so opted for blue instead , with a higher mileage 7.5k .Edited by glow worm on Friday 14th November 18:21
