Good to see your mods Chris, as a fellow long-termer sticking with a T-car. Nothing replaces them. smokin
Cheers - you're quite right, for the money (even if you end up spending more that the purchase of the car to get it how you want), not a lot comes close, even after 10 years!

Really enjoying this thread, Its great to see ex TVR owners coming back to the fold as we all know that nothing else compares, Tamora's generally seem to be keepers even more than other Tiv's judging by the number of long standing owners on here, good luck with the car, PS You will love the Trek R its a great wheel, I love mine.
Cheers Ian smile

I never wanted to sell my first Tam, TBH. However, this time, we seem to be a little better off, financially, so this time around, I'm going to give the car the attention they deserve. (even though I seem to have put off our house renovation to fund it....)

Just had a couple more pics of the seats sent via email:

Coming along nicely Chris. Look forward to meeting up one day and making sure you have no bald patches on the rear tyres. wink
Thanks, Steve - the only bald patches are on the top of my head! yes, it will be good to meet up one day smile

Am looking forward to seeing how the Nitrons feel...

ETA - I have a 3.73 Hydratrack diff in our hallway - so that will be installed next (maybe with a Quaife LSD), along with CR gears! Onwards and upwards! lol

Great colour combo Chris it's coming along nicely. The seat look great. I've no idea what want in mine yet my colour choice seems to change by the hour! As long as I've made my mind up by October frown

Thanks Buzz smile

I didn't really make my mind up until I actually got there and spoke to Adrian at Central - the only thing I was 100% sure of was that I wanted desperately to break up that all blue interior - didn't want anything OTT, just something in keeping with the rest of the car, that didn't involve blue so much...

Eh?

I did change my lights to LED's, and I did try and fix my passenger door switch problem. I changed my reverse switch and glass-fibred an alloy handbrake base in place - Are you suggesting I should have re-trimmed the interior myself, lest I get ripped off? I know my limitations... smile

Not at all!

knowing Steve who will take anything apart I understood his humour!

I recently had a complete hood and carpet set for my chim from Central that I fitted myself that was good quality, ......just saying smile
smile

Steve's Tam is a gem, and I wish I had a fraction of his mechanical wherewithal

I admit that I was certainly, or at the very least felt as though I was 'ripped off' by the people who fitted my head unit and sat nav (Not a good feeling at all..), and wish I had tried that myself. After that experience, I vowed to use companies/people who make their living and reputation working on TVR's - so I can at least minimise the chance of being 'ripped off'

Central have been great, I have to say. Adrian sends me plenty of updates, and if they aren't sure of something, they ring up and ask where I want certain things. I think that companies who don't ask for a single Penny until after the job is finished and the customer is happy with the results are a pretty safe bet. smile

Chris..I was shown around your finished car this morning, it looks fantastic! I'm having my tuscan re-trimmed in purple and portland..can't wait!
Cheers smile You must be the guy Adrian told me about on the phone earlier!

My Tam was very tired looking before having this done, am so excited about picking it up!

Oh yes, Adrian told me that, with that powered sub woofer I bought, the sound is now better than Adrian's own car!

The break up of colour in your interior looks really good in the flesh. I'm still struggling to find something to compliment/match chameleon blue paintwork..not entirely sure on the portland/purple..ideas anyone?
Before I spoke to Adrian with the car in front of us, I was convinced I would go with a black/Portland grey interior with grey carpet and black roof. I am glad I allowed Central to help sort the colour scheme. I think that perhaps yours may look good in a similar combo - Prussian blue/Portland Grey?

OK, just drove back (with the roof off). Driving this car just puts a smile on my face every time - strange to explain, but I'm just 'happy' when I drive it, even when following traffic..

I think it's fair to say that overall, I am very impressed - the interior now looks fantastic (apart from when I switched on the blower and all crap blew out onto the immaculate leather...). The wheels really do suit the body colour, as do the red callipers.

I just have a couple of small 'niggles' that I will talk to Adrian about, but am sure they'll be sorted. But for now, here she is (sorry for the lightness in the pictures, I used my camera which is really calibrated for indoor close up studio lighting shots..)

Sub woofer position:

Seat backs repainted from silver to black:

Shi-Devil's carbon fibre pedal plate now in place:

And the new rear screen and roof (which weren't required on the way home..)

Cheers smile

I am very happy with the re-trim, it has certainly transformed the tired looking interior.

Niggles are largely confined to the ICE and speakers, and after speaking to Adrian this morning, he will send a truck to pick up the car in a couple of weeks time to deal with any problems I highlighted. He sad a couple of weeks in case I discover anything else that may require attention. fair enough.

Just a pity my wife had to drive her car back, rather than driving back together in the Tam...

You should have used it as a opportunity to see how your car looks like on the road biggrin
The Mrs and i did this on the way back from "soft top" Sunday a couple of years ago, i took this photo from her MR2 roadster at 60 ish mph, very quickly it comes out a bit blurred, but because of this it is possible my favourite photo of the Tam.

I just thought, she'd have filmed me from the MG's dash cam! Will have to take a look.....

I can't help it - every time I have one of my tea breaks, I have to go down the garage to have a look at the car (the whole garage now smells like new leather!).

The more I look at it, the more I love it - it's made a much bigger difference than I first imagined.

Just totted up how much I have spent since buying the car last October, gulp - over £10k! But, it was only £16k to begin with, and I knew it needed some TLC.

All I need now is the CR gearbox, diff upgrade and 4.3, and it should all be sorted! lol

(Wife baulked at the cheque I wrote for Central, saying that could have paid to have our living room sorted - woman and their odd priorities...) hehe

ETA - Forgot to add - the Momo Trek R steering wheel feels great, and that Pioneer powered sub woofer makes all the difference to the sound of the ICE - highly recommended.

Finally, the new Nitrons do make a difference, too (but then, at £1200, they should..) - car now feels even more planted to the road, especially cornering, than before.

I genuinely cannot make my mind up! I was intending to go with full purple(sparco)seats with matching portland tunnel, upper part doors cards, bottom half of shelf etc..but now I'm thinking that will be too much 'purple'..and should I go for full portland seats instead, with hints of purple on the rest of the car. It's a very tricky colour to match and I haven't been able to find many interior shots of chameleon blue cars to make a comparison.
It's a tough call when you haven't got your mind set on a particular combination, at least it was for me. You could play it safe and go for black and Portland, but TBH, the Tuscan is such a mad looking car anyway (in a very good way), so the purple would suit it very well, too. Whatever you choose, I doubt you'll be disappointed with the end result smile
